Was chatting with Russel earlier on the deplorable network, and one thing led to another, ending with me posting this. For those of you who need to see this, here it is. I was so blown away when I saw this video. Gives me goosebumps everytime, and the realisation on the little girls face almost gets me all teary eyed. Hope this changes a life.

Thunderkiss: I second the "seatbelts" thing. It should be worn at all times. Don't know if there are professional racing pilots here, but take it from a person who like to drive a lot and fast - you are NEVER 100% in control of the situation. And same goes for motorcycles - all the gear, all the time. Actually got a friend to a hospital after 800 meters ride to the shop in a t-shirt and jeans. It was summer Sunday afternoon, no rain, known road. Be reckless in the WarRobots, but be careful on the road!

But if I drove a racecar into a solid concrete wall at +200mp/h, I'd climb out and kick the tyres. The auto industry should consider using race gear and frames from Motorsports for Consumers. I think it would save a lot of lives ..

Thunderkiss : I second the "seatbelts" thing. It should be worn at all times. No, absolutely positively not. We need to get rid of the law that requires people to wear them as well, but not the laws that require our cars to have them. By avoiding a singular tragedy, you can create a disaster. Lets give an example of that last statement: Folks lets be frank. This could have been a tragedy, and Im NOT saying it SHOULD have been, I don't wish ill will on others. Yes she is(was?) easy on the eyes, but she is also a bit dumb (ok outright stupid) and probably crazy (ok she is bat 「dookie」 insane). Is this something we wanted more of in the gene pool! If a policy exists to save the stupid from themselves, be wary before you allow it to happen and NEVER promote it.
The above may be sarcasm by me. I could tag it to make it clear what my intent is, but I think the ambiguity is interesting and leaves it as an exercise for the reader. If you have made it this far and are still wondering or were just offended then please by all means down vote me or say something critical. Just don't put your seat belt on if you do

I was watching an episode of Greys Anatomy earlier (don't you judge me!) and there was a family in an accident in which their SUV hit an ambulance and overturned. Three passengers were on the road, one climbed free of the wreckage and a kid was pinned under the open tailgate. And I'm thinking, "how can that be if they were wearing seat belts?"... which led me to look up your seat belt laws, which I gather vary from state to state. I was shocked.
Seat belt wearing is legally enforced here in the UK - minimum £100 fine ($130), no licence points. Kids under 12, or 135cm tall, are required to be in an appropriate child seat. Kids not wearing seat belts = driver with £500 ($650) fine and 3 penalty points. Passengers over 14 not wearing seat belts get their own fines.
My Honda Civic will tell me which seat in my car has or hasn't got a seatbelt on. My laptop gets strapped in or my car will deafen me with a constant high pitch alarm.
Motorcycle helmets are 100% legally enforced too. And it's super expensive to get a licence. I was envious of how supportive and helpful your government is when issuing motorcycle licences. But then I reasoned that they could just be trying to thin out the population.
Talk to me about your safety stuff. I know nothing! Except my car insurance is about $60 per month, and that's expensive because I live in the ghetto apparently. Aren't your insurance premiums in the $$$'s per month?
