I'm coming up on 10k WSP and thinking about what to get.
I do NOT want a WSP robot right now. These are the weapons I already have:
Taran x2 Magnum x4 Trebuchet x2 (will probably have a 3rd by the end of the event)
What I'm thinking is to wait til I have 13k, then buy a Trident and a Hydra and put them on a Golem (with a Spiral) for a 600m support/harrasser missile bot. What do you guys think? Know it's not even c!ose to meta and won't be viable past Gold, but seems like it would be fun.
Other options would be to go with two Hydras, instead of a Trident, and build a Spydra Griffin, which could also be fun. Or, get another Magnum and switch out the Pinatas on my Thunder Leo for triple Magnums.
Thoughts?

I ran a Trident/Tulu/Pin Golem before, all I can say is that it's a lackluster build. The damage of single Trident is poor, and Golem is squishy even for a medium bot. Zeus/Tulu/Pin Golem is way better in my opinion if you really want a mid-range Golem.

I ran a slightly different flavor from both of you above, a Zeus/Hydra/Spiral Golem. It was fun but not earthshaking. If they ran from the Zeus, I'd pepper them with heat seekers. If they came after me, Zeus time. But Gareth and Galahad ate me alive.

Hydra/Spiral Griff I've heard is one of the better builds of its kind. Not particularly my cup of tea, but I think Hydra/Spiral Griff and Hydra Fujin have the best damage output and durability for annoying support bots.

I have used many Golem setups in the past and In my opinion, if you want to use that Golem setup, make sure to use high leveled Spiral and Hydra, or even the Trident; because those are weapons that dont do a lot of damage. It is true that they can be very efficient on some situations, especially on smaller maps, where other heavies (fury, leo and nat) with same weapons (spirals, hydras and tridents) have some difficult to be effective because of the speed and the lack of good positions. Just my opinion, hehe. About the Spydra: it does more damage and you will have a platform that can jump (this really really helps avoiding missiles) and has more HP , but is slower than golem's; but you will not have the trident for splash. The mechanics will be 100% based on a hit and get cover strategy.

In the long run you will likely want 2 tridents and maybe 2 or even 3 hydras (Fuj + 2.9.2 possible buffs). That said if you only have that much WSP id suggest doing 2 tridents vs 1 & 1. Are you mentioning golem because you already have a leveled one? If so give it a shot while you level up the weapons. I used to enjoy the Golem and Vit before Pix essentially turned the game into "field your SINGLE best hanger". Ironically then they mention lack diversity.
Sorry /rant.
At any rate the Gol is a fun little guy. Back in the day I used to run a Kang + molot version as sort of a mobile LR bot.

Spydral Griffs are annoying af, and actually have a higher dps as compared to Hydra Fujin. Griffs have the advantage of retreating with jump whereas Fujin shall be the ballistics sucker ~

Hi Tony, please ignore my comments because I'm biased af, I'd say get more Tarans, plasma and more plasma!

It would be better to post a screenshot of your current hangar to see your current lineup... then the opinion would cover a bigger picture FWIW - don't bother with a Golem IMO

I'm coming up on 10k WSP and thinking about what to get. I do NOT want a WSP robot right now. It has been said already and I am going to say it again... Get a carnage. Your going to want to slap 2 thunders on it. get the bot to 9 and the weapons to 8. Don't take it out till your at 7-7. Don't expect to shine in it till it is at least 9 on the bot and you have driven it a lot and figured out how not to die. If you get one in the event, great... use that, but save your WSP till the end of the event because if you don't get it you want it. > Trident and a Hydra and put them on a Golem And then eject from it. This is a dead end bot right now, and a very dead end build! Hydra spiral griff, and hope the coming buff cuts your way on this build. The carnage would still be a better investment. You may not want a bot, but you should get the carnage. Did I mention get the carnage.

I'm with zer00eyz, get a thunder carnage. The only WSP weapons you really want are the magums and tarans. If you have those, stick them on the Golem with a thunder. I ran a Tulu / Pin / Trident Golem for a bit and it was ok. Pin Zeus Leo is better, you'll be able to take some damage so you can dish it out - and with that setup it'll add up. Golem is too soft and the Hydra Spiral combo just doesn't do enough damage. My best Golem which I run just for fun is the Pinata, Orkan Thunder combo if you have them...
Sorry man, wish that Spiral Hydra Golem worked, but it doesn't - I must've tried it 50 times.
Or get a Rhino, 15k WSP. Its fast, it has protection against plasma, same load out as an archer griff (2 x spirals & 2 x Hydras) and that has some punch.
As for the WSP points, it wont be long until you have more than you need, promise.
And remember what zer00eyz said

And remember what zer00eyz said Thanks for all the helpful input everybody. I know the smart thing, competitively speaking, would be to buy a Carnage. But I cannot express to you how much I loathe that bot. Sick of seeing them on the field, running around Thundering (or Zeusing) everybody. Eventually I will have no choice but to get one as well, but I just do not want to do that right now. Maybe in two or three months. Winning is awesome and being competitive is great, but my real focus is just on having some fun. For ME, personally, that means playing a variety of bots, with a variety of weapons, using a variety of playstyles. Even if those builds aren't going to be competitive in the upper levels. That's why I was thinking about the Trident/Hydra/Spiral Golem, just to have something to firetruck around with that could play hide and seek with other bots while sending out loads of missiles to hit them in the face. I mean, it feels like I have taken more loads in the face than a ?popcorn? star, so I'd like to have a little fun returning the favor to the reds. However, I think you guys have convinced me to compromise on a little more powerful, little more mobile option...the Spydra. I'm gonna buy a couple of Hydras and level them up with the umpteen Spirals that somehow keep appearing in my inventory (do they breed in captivity, maybe?) and put them on my extra Griffin. That should be kinda fun for a while. Somebody asked about my hangar. Here it is. The fifth spot is where I swap in and out whatever feels like fun at the moment. Right now, that's the Aphid Leo. Sometimes, it's a Tempest/Molot Leo, or a Gunship Griffin, or a Gekko Gepard (Gekkard?). The only Au bot I have at the moment, other than the Gepard, is a Galahad won from the event. Plan to start learning to play it after the event, but with the upcoming buffs (which are friggin' insane if you ask me), I doubt he will see much use. My next Au purchase is going to be the Rogatka with a pair of Orkans, probably. Just seems like it would be a ton of fun to play. (Too bad the current sale comes after I have spent my gaming budget for this month.) @travlar, I like your idea about the Rhino. That will probably be my first WSP bot, after I get these Hydras. Get 'em leveled on the Griffin, then switch over once I get the Rhino.

I agree with many above on the Carnage. It is a fantastic bot. You want diversity? Get a second slap 2 zeus on him and name him Zarny. I'm gonna get a third put twin tridents (working on trident event task #2 currently) on him and call it 「mispelling of grandma」 (ok mebbe not!).

Get the Galahad out - it's still a tough bot great when facing plasma - awesome corner shooter... L9 and he's quick too stick 2 aphids from the Leo on him ... buy the Orkan you want & get leveling ... when it comes to rogatka you will have 1 orkan already leveled
we'll that's probably what I'd do
