I have an idle iOS clan, which I set up a while back to be able to squad with my son (he's too young to have an FB account). He has since moved on to other games, but the clan is still there with me being the only member (plus my son's unused account I play from time to time). I was thinking maybe I could put the clan into some good use, and open it up to other parent-kid combos, so they could squad together. I'm not aiming to create anything fancy, basically just offer a means for them to play with each other. Obviously there would not be any requirements regarding hangar or activity levels, and the only requirement would be for the parent to be able to communicate in English for clarity's sake.
I wonder if there would be any demand for that kind of setup, and if there would be any specifics to consider due to the special nature of such an arrangement? Any thoughts are appreciated, especially so from people with experience running clans.

PM Sgt. Doom, and get his take. Death by PiG was designed for what you are speaking of. We formed a sister clan for older players, that is just, a typical clan structure.

Apologies to everybody for not replying to my own thread earlier - have been a bit busy with RL. It would be really nice to hear SGT D00M! 's take. Thanks a lot for the tip +DethHilt+ and moodyMeanwhile, Peter Quincy Taggart feel free to make a join request in-game for you and your son if you like, and I'll accept it. The clan name is Phoenix Rising [PXR] and clan id is 37665. That way you can get going with squading already, and decide later whether you want to stay or go find something else. I have no idea yet whether the clan will turn into something like a more active community, or just remain a simple place people can use to squad with their kids ("simple" was my original idea). Either way, it will be kid-friendly, so no foul language of any sort accepted, or performance-oriented attitude required etc. I think I will accept admissions via this site only, and people would only be allowed to join with their kids, so no solo adults or children accepted. I will write a proper thread in the Clan recruitment section, if/when I really decide to go for it. Ps. I think Death by pig clan is Android, and this clan is iOS. In iOS you need to set up an FB account for your kids to squad with them. Not everybody wants to do that, so that's why I thought I'd offer the clan space for people as a workaround. |

Despite interest shown on the forum, I never succeeded in actually recruiting family pairs outside of myself and my son. We got younger solo players and a few known adults to help herd cats, but that was it. Good luck. PiGS is now essentially a clan for my son to be able to squad with his same age friends and I check in on the chat every once in a while to make sure everyone is being appropriate. I wish you the best of luck and hope your clan sees more success than mine did.

Based on what you say, I suspect my effort won't be that succesful either. It does not really matter, though. I'm just offering the idle clan space for people to use, and I don't really have any ambitions beyond that. If nobody needs it, that's fine, but if it becomes useful for folks, or even develops into something more substantial, that's ok, too. If it starts to fly, I'm going to moderate and facilitate the thing, and oversee that everything stays kid-friendly - and referee if need be - but have no intention of becoming any sort of Master and Commander. Enough pressure and things to manage in RL, no need for more here. |

H1151, sorry for the delay...my son heard me complaining so bitterly about this event that he's decided to stay with something less stressful...he's gone back to playing Battlefront II on the computer.  So I guess I'll be looking for a clan as a solo. But good fortune on the effort and if things change here hopefully the offer will still be available.
