(Note: You'll only care about this if you have a Kindle. Otherwise, not so much. Even if, still maybe not so much. This was a minor pain in the butt to figure out, so figured I'd share it and maybe save somebody else some time.)
If you have a Kindle, you probably know you can modify it to put the Google Play Store on it and use Android apps, along with Amazon App Store stuff.
When I find a game from the App Store that I like, usually I will also install the Android version to see which I like better, or vice versa. Haven't done that a lot, but it has worked the few times I have tried. Both versions have co-existed separately on my device with no problems.
However, it will not work with War Robots.
I installed the Amazon version on my Kindle, then tried to install the Android version. But when I went to the Google Play Store, instead of an 'install' button there was just an 'open' button. Tapping it opened the Amazon version of the game. Same thing happened in reverse when I installed Android first, then went to Amazon App Store. Just an 'open' button that will launch the Android version.
If you install and begin playing one version, then decide you would rather play the other version, you will lose all your progress. The Amazon version saves your game data to GameCircle, while Android data goes to Google Play.
You can maintain two accounts, but if you want to switch between platforms, you have to uninstall Android, then reinstall and open Amazon, or the reverse. You have to do this every time you want to switch, as long as you are using just one device. It's kind of a pain.
Fortunately, even if you uninstall, your progress will still be saved and will load the next time you reinstall, as long as you have a GameCircle account for your Amazon games and a Google Play account for your Android games.
But be careful. Here's a fun bit of info I learned the hard way today...
Say you install Amazon's version of War Robots, play the game for a bit, then uninstall it. Then at some point later, you decide to install it again, but you want to start the game over, not using your progress from the first time. On that second install, every time you launch the game, you will get a pop-up notifying you that your saved progress (from GameCircle) does not match your local progress (stored on your device) and it will ask you if you want to sync.
If you click 'OK' it will NOT update GameCircle with the new, more current game data from your device. It will WIPE that data (erasing any progress, purchases, etc) and replace it with the old, out-of-date data from GameCircle. In other words, everything you did on the second install will revert back to whatever you did in the game on the first install.
This happens even if you go into your GameCircle account between the first and second install, find War Robots and select 'delete from device' and 'delete from cloud.'
So...
If you haven't already, you CAN play War Robots on your Kindle. It handles the game really well, or at least the Kindle Fire HD 8 does. In fact, I recommend it for gaming.
But I suggest picking one version, either Android or Amazon, and sticking with it. Remember also that Amazon and Android are two different servers, just like Android and iOS.
And the Amazon server really sucks it.
There is a very small pool of players, and I think that leads to players from low and high leagues getting thrown into the same battles together. I played for several hours today and was in Private league, seeing Golds, Diamonds, Masters, etc. Guys still running around in their Molot/Spiral Destriers were getting annihilated by Thunder Carnages, Plasma Griffins, Treb Natashas. (This was not LQ, and I don't think those guys were tankers...their profiles and hangars were all high-level, not artificially low like a tanker.)
Also, I assume because of the small player pool, I kept seeing the same guys over and over, both low and high league. Not a lot of fun, to me.
I recommend, if you are gonna play War Robots on your Kindle, that you just avoid the Amazon version and install Android.
