..and the result was that I shot up 2 entire league levels from where I was stuck in diamond III all the way to just about diamond 1 in a couple days play.
It's not entirely true that I completely ignore beacons. I just don't go out of my way to secure important beacons to try and secure a win like I used to. I noticed that when I used to play for wins and beacons I would always get screwed by having 2nd or 1st beacon caps but due to idiot teammates still lose the game and get severely penalized for not doing max damage.
Now that I completely focus on damage with the odd convenience beacon my win rate has gone from 60% to mid 40-50% but my league advancement is much faster.
When I do win I nearly always get 1st damage place and the gold as well.
So..I have found with the MM system the only way to advance and to control for the uncontrollable variable (idiot teammates) that I have to play the most selfish way possible.
Congrats Pixonic.

Why do you need to go up leagues?

The most fun I had was playing expert/master level + guys while squadded with a higher ranked clan mate. Too many outright imbeciles in gold and early diamond 3 on ios for it to be very enjoyable. I also like challenging 1v1 duels.

If you want to rise in order to challenge those at a higher level then more power to you.

I hear ya. This is a match today that didn't go our way even though I tried to keep the dominance bar in our favor. In the end, we lost by dominance and I got much lower silver for my beacon taking efforts. Its not atypical to score 400-500K damage and finish in last place in Masters/Champion level matches, but what is becoming typical is that most pilots give up any thoughts of beacons once loss even looks like a possibility. This week, I'm going to switch to a damage-leaning hangar that won't be speedy - and concentrate on damage only (beacon taking just if it doesn't interfere with damage dealing). Losses rates seem to be in the range if 40-70% no matter what hangar type I use, so I'd rather get more damage if losses stay the same anyhow. As a random, the league rating and gold takes a back seat to silver - and if win/Lise is basically out of my control, then damage is the only thing that I have some say in.

I'm finding this thread pretty negative - and I get it! - I've been there many times! But what it always comes down to, IMO, is the system balancing out. Everybody wants wins, everybody wants gold, and most people rate how they are doing based on whether their rating is going up... But we're playing against each other! We're all improving, we're all upgrading as we go, some of us are dropping some RM on the game... Something would be totally wrong if some of us were always on the up and up. Some would be have to be on the down, it can't happen.
So when I'm able to feel really Zen, I take the losing streaks as help in getting back into the games where I make real impact.
Also, from Gold up, I don't buy this argument of "idiots" in my team. If you looked at all my game stats, sometimes I've just walked into the wrong bots, with the wrong bots and some bad luck and you'd think I wasn't playing my @55 off. Sometimes you'd think I tanked down from Master.
I'm iOS Diamond 2, rating 2637 with an 8 to 11 hangar, averaging at 9.5 bots and 9 weaps. I find the guys know the latest meta, play in spirit of the game to achieve team and personal goals.

There's a positive side of the League system? Is there a league "system"? There's a rating system so I play against players within a few hundred rating points of me but the league is just a personal challenge. Achieving personal objectives in a team game against live players with the same objectives, team & personal, is always gonna be difficult.

It is pretty hard to judge if you (hypothetical "you") played a game good, even with stats screenshot. You might contribute more by NOT inflicting so much damage: - bring down Ancile for teammates - helping your buddy to win in a plasma duel against BritBot - when you shoot in the shield, and buddy is shooting from behind - wasting your Trebuchet shot on a crippled red beacon capper thus resulting in a team moving as a whole, taking entire field.
But I see your point. However, I would try to point out the following:
1) If you are playing for fun, why not start to bring fun to everybody else, teach with an example? I believe if there would be many players helping other players - it would be noticed, and everybody would start helping each other. 2) If you are not playing for fun, and just want to be at some league - of course it's just natural to rack up the damage and be there in no time. 3) If you don't like your current league, but can't move up - it must be something wrong not with everybody, who plays stupid, but manages to defeat you, but with you, skill-wise or bot-wise. 4) If you want to win on your terms, with League of your choosing, using only bots you like.. Well, then you are just like me :-D I like to dream, but that usually just doesn't happen.

Why advance in league? Don't let anyone judge you based on your league standing. Who cares!
It is much more fun if you just totally ignore the league system. The monthly league rewards is negligible and we know that many champions are fake (from leavers queue). Just play the way you want and enjoy each match!
