I got a few games yesterday where I was the only gold in a field of diamonds to experts. Technically, it was a bad match up. But I did have more fun than running into the average wall of tankers. I was also able to acquit myself pretty well. Spoke to soon. Pixo can kiss my hairy fanny.

I'm in expert 1 and just had a player from private league in our match.. It's a shame it for give new players a good example of how good this game could be. But then I do get put against legends and the same happens to me. I'm toast in seconds

I am a D3 player, but today I have been fighting nothing but Champions League. Was D2, but now fast dropping down.
Perhaps deleting and never coming back is the best solution...

There are some times I can fight back and manage to defeat a bunch and reds and get in the 1-4 place in free for all, but the only reason I can really get that far is because of the stalker I have, which is pretty defenseless agains bots like a spectre when the cloak runs out, although sometimes I manage to outwit them but it usually brings my health down to half or less... I’m in diamond two but I have to face off against people in higher leagues like expert 1s which is quite troublesome, and I have a feeling that it’s going to get very messy with the new workshop.

Yep, I'M Diamond III and keep getting hammered by teams of 3-4 champions and sometimes masters.. How in the world can pixonic calculate in their alogrythm that this is an 'even powered' match ? Do these developers know math or just code ? It's back to the way it was, and worse. We just had a full squad of champion players, and in 6-7 games we faced mostly diamond players, some squadded with gold players. Terribly boring for us and must be frustrating for the lower tier players.

Tin foil hat time:
When they separated modes matchmaking was pretty even. Now, we’re at the end of the period, matchmaking is crazier than ever. Pix have likely messed around within the MM so they can say separate modes don’t work as the player base is too small.

Runamok, I would agree except that I am playing random and getting screwed as a silver going up against 4-5 diamonds. Their algorithm is tripping on lsd. What is the point of playing when you literally take about ten steps and get shot and killed instantly?

What is the point of playing when you literally take about ten steps and get shot and killed instantly? Is that all the time since the mode separation? I found it started out well, even matches, and slowly got worse. The most recent match was champions - expert mixed up. Before that gold - expert. However, this has only been the past couple of days. i still think they’ve messed with it recently so as to give a reason to dump us all in random again.

So about 20-25 matches, I have had gold 1 or diamond 1/2's - the problem with random is you get a high percentage of droppers since if they don't like beacon rush, and want to play like it is deathmatch, they either ignore the beacons to prolong the game, or they drop. Both suck.

What is the point of playing when you literally take about ten steps and get shot and killed instantly? There's no point (at least on Steam) so I stopped playing. I mean it's diamond against champions over there, every match. I've played about three times this month instead of everyday like I did for the first 2.5 years on Android. Even on Android where I have an L12 hangar it's nothing but Spectres and Dash bots, so the game is just boring and nearly pointless to play any other bot. Now days I just check in to collect the loot and then log out. I figured they might fix the balance one day and return the fun to the game, in which case I'll have some extra resources.

I dropped my main and started a Smurf a couple weeks ago and have been pretty much playing it exclusively. I am in Silver 1 (I think that's the top one) and starting a couple days ago the MM changed. It has been creating matches that are fair if you look at the teams but not really fair to the players. An example would be both teams have 3 guys D3-D1 2 gold guys and a guy in my league. Fair on paper but not if you are the Silver guy with nothing over lvl 6 who just got splattered. I have also seen it go where each team has 2 in my league 2-3 lower Silver and 1-2 Bronze guys who are practice dummies for everyone else.

Seriously, aren't there enough Champion squads - or indy's with Maxed Mings and 12/12 MK2 Hangers that they fight each other? They might as well rename extreme imbalance games "Canon Fodder" and NOT FUN for anyone.

There's nothing worse than emptying a full magazine on someone and seeing their health drop by 1/8th, then they empty probably half a magazine on your bot and your dead while they continue to go on blasting nearby teammates for another four to five seconds.
I decided to play a bunch of matches just to see if anything has been fixed. After dozens of matches, across the last week I'm still seeing Champions alongside Diamond 3 players probably 50% of the matches.
Pixonic needs to put hard cap on Champion players to simply never match them with anyone more than 6 levels below, instead of the 9-10 levels they are doing now. It's not fun the way it currently works. Balanced matches are actually fun when they happen and feel like a challenge. Unbalanced feels like you are playing with cheaters and just makes me decide to stop playing.
I'd rather have a 3 on 3 balanced match than half the team loaded up with Champion players.

You think matchmaking bad for you? I'm in Champion league with a pretty strong lineup. Last 2 days my win % went from 66% down to 28% now. I've been busting my tail trying to win but it seems when Pixonic wants you to lose there's nothing you can do about it. I mean, many times I will sacrifice my damage stats holding onto 1 beacon in my skyros with literally 5 reds blasting me for 2-3 min, and the whole time not 1 other beacon has turned blue.

I think I have experienced that. It is weird. Like the rest of the team is made up of NPCs.

Something I noticed on my F2P account which is in Silver II. While platforms like iOS had the update for a few days, I only got it on 8/15 on MY.GAMES. In that period up to 8/15, I lost a lot and looked at the other players. Definitely was seeing a few Masters and Experts playing with Gold, Silver, Bronze, and even once a Private. My guess is that Pix turns off the boundaries of +/- 1 league of your present league for the matchmaker and I would surmise this is to allow these platforms an opportunity to still get a match started in a reasonable timeframe given all the other platforms being already on 8.3. Once I updated to 8.3, I was getting normal matchmaking again.

It's probably because the rest of your team is intentionally tanking (losing), to lower their rating, to get into a lower league so they can be overpowered and dominate. I've seen lots of people doing this - they leave their clan while they "tank", so it doesn't hurt their clan, and then get into a league that they're way overpowered for, rejoin the clan, and dominate, boosting their clan. It's gotten to the point that almost every match is decided by how many people are either tanking or already OP for the league. As one of the many, many examples I've seen, here's the two hangars of someone who does this: The hangar for once he's become OP and is ready to win (after rejoining his clan) and the one he uses to lose: In the battle I played against him, he was in Diamond I league (he has over 13,000 wins - no way should he still be in Diamond), and he used his good hangar, and of course dominated: IMO they need to make league depend almost entirely on total number of victories, so people can't drag themselves down into a lower league by intentionally losing. People like this are ruining the game. In any match they play in, it's not a fair contest - either they're dragging their team down, which sounds like what happened to you, or they're absurdly OP for their league. I encountered someone in Silver I who had all Mk3 bots with Mk3 weapons and a maxed out Sharanga (lev 150 with lev 25 weapons). He was playing against people with Mk1 level 3-5 bots.

When I was playing the game regularly, I came to the conclusion -- especially after they switched from hanger matching -- that your ability to win or lose is often up to the match making system rather than your skill level. Even your ranking inside the team is heavily dependent. I lost interest in trying to upgrade bots after that.
