I had thought the matchmaking system for each game was relatively stable, but after just coming from a match in which on my team, there were three of us against six enemies, what the heck is that for a match?
Sadly, I did not manage to get any screen shots, because it all happened so fast and I was too focused on what was happening that I didn't have any time (as you will find out by reading below), but here is a run-down of how the match went:
0 seconds: Match starts on that Luna mining facility map, played in Silver 1 League.
1 second into the match: One of my team members exits the game just as the match starts.
27 seconds into the match: I have taken the first beacon, with my other team member (the one who stuck with me through the match) grabbed the second.
1 minute into the match: The enemy has one kill (me) and has retaken both beacons my team member and I had managed to grab, plus two others. The enemy team now has control of 3/4 of the map.
1:23 seconds into the match: I kill one enemy and am promptly taken down by another. Team members has also been destroyed by this point.
2:00 minutes into the match: Team member and I drop in new robots. Enemy has captured all the beacons at this point and is grouping to stage a big offensive on our spawn point. But it doesn't matter. One enemy is already at spawn point and activates shields and armour while lashing out with Trebuchets and other weapons at me.
2:05 seconds into the match: While I am getting pounded, what does my team member decide to do? Run around behind me like a chook without its head and think it's a good idea to shoot me in the rear end. Although this does no damage - come on, freaking annoying!
2:41 seconds into the match: Through wasting two good robots on that one enemy, I have finally managed to take down aforementioned enemy robot, while team member has decided that (s)he will eject from a perfectly good robot and leave the match altogether. Now, I am facing six enemy robots of varying size, strength and speed all alone, as three new enemies come marching out through the centre framework and lock onto me with all they have to bear.
2:47 seconds into the match: Alone and in a robot that could no more knock a tick off a baboon's rear end (yep, my last robot was a Cossack), I quickly dart behind the nearest mound just as the three enemy robots unload on me. But fortunately or unfortunately, however you look at it, the timer on the beckons for my side runs down just as that first volley hits and kills me dead centre.
2:49 seconds into the match: Game Over.
Now, should I be laughing at all of this, or crying because of the sheer idiocy of it all?
