The latter, obviously. Although "dominate" is a bit of a strong word. What I'm saying is the enemy team nearly always has at least one death button active. ...which are easily taken down by Carnages in my battles. Which tier of Gold are you 3 or 2 or 1? Haha not really man, those guys go down swinging unless you catch 'em off guard. I'm Gold 1, but about to be shunted into Gold 2. Although I doubt that's really relevant, because after the introduction of the new matchmaking, I'm regularly facing opponents from pretty much everywhere, including low diamond, occasionally.

In Diamond, I still see a good amount of britbots.
Actually, the game lacks diversity because you always find the same opponents : Griffins, britbots, some Stalkers to open the games, some Leos, a bit of Carnage or Fujin, that's it.
Gareth is still hell-effective. Sure the rocket fest has diminished the advantage but you know, rockets hits everybody, not just britbots. In that sense Gareth is not overpowered anymore (it was arguably OP before), but it's still very strong. If you happen to face one and all you have is plasma, then I wish you good luck to get out of here.

I am a huge fan of Gareth, like, bought it the first month of playing, and always has still been my favorite, but nowadays I see a lot of people complaining about Gareth. Various issues like, "Shield's too weak", and "Gareth is too slow", and "can't engage in useful fighting". I find none of these to be true. As for "Shield's too weak", the shield (often proportionately) holds a 2:1 ratio with Gareth. This gives it 180k health, and then people find ways to mess that up. You don't just go out into the middle of a PDB fight and expect to last, Gary is always hit and run, hit and run. "Too Slow", what the ?firetruck?? Gary is the second fastest bot in the game, just behind stalker, and drops (20%) when the shield is up, and if you know how to use Gary, your shield is hardly ever up. So at max speed (Level 9), you go 64k km/h, and that's fast enough to annoy the living hell out of your enemies. Maybe not The Flash, perhaps Quicksilver. It Competes with stalker for beacons and often reels in 3-4 beacons a game. "Can't engage in useful fighting", you rarely ever engage in brawler type fighting, and you are brawler support, again, this is the one I agree with the most, as you will only land about 160k damage, but that's still something considering it is a light bot. Gareth can engage in brawler fighting with any light and most medium bots without splash, and usually wins, (Little Guys Rule!) Just saying, Gareth is a purdy juicy bot, even though splash is annoying, you just have to pick your fights. You're in silver, where it's fine. It won't last.

In my opinion if you think the Gareth is dead you do not know how to play it correctly. I'm not sure what league you're currently in, so I can't comment on the validity of your statement. I would consider myself one of the best Gareth pilots of the ones I've seen, and I have yet to find a use for it in the upper leagues since the rocket buff. It was already difficult to use in top tier before the rocket buff, and its only chance was an immense amount of skill and awareness then. The one thing that gave it a chance was that most death buttons were regular DB, so you had a 50m range advantage. Now that there's an abundance of RDB, and a single salvo from only one of them will take out 3/4 of your health, AND your most common opponent has a 150m range advantage over you, the Gareth is literally impossible to pilot successfully in the upper tiers. It has been demoted to a strictly specialist role, which can only succeed in very specific and uncommon scenarios. If I were to drop to Gold League, I'd probably be able to use it again. Since Diamond-Champion are in the same queue now, anything Diamond and above is a Gareth graveyard.

Silver and Gold are seeing matches that pull in higher level peeps now too... so even there it is not as much of a boon as it used to be. I still use mine... but it is regulated to SF and Yam beacon control due to the ability to block Treb blasts and its propensity for hit-and-run, havok causing, attacks with Ork/Pinata in any other map. I have to be hyper aware to keep it alive, though, and I treat everything as a TT Fury or an RDB, just in case, until I know for sure what they are. I am not the best by any means, but I have been playing one since it was released, almost continuously, and it does what I want it to. Plus, it really is the only light bot I can count on for light bot daily tasks. I know I am not the norm, and I have held on to that lil guy for a bit longer than I should, but it is what it is. Overall, though, I would agree that it does not hold the same presence that it used to.

ⓣⓡⓘⓒⓚⓨ48I think the conclusion I came to, to my own dismay, was that I could no longer justify using a hangar slot for it. There are just too many better options now that I can use that spot for. That would have much more consistent impacts on games. I now have a Galahad for late game beacon capping and plasma protection. I keep teasing the idea of using Gary for that role.. but now that a majority of the rockets in the field are not the kind that can easily be outrun, I feel like the extra durability and power of the Galahad is worth it. Prior to the change, the majority of rockets were those powerful but slow ones. So I felt Gareth's speed was worth way more than an extra light point and health. Because a good Gareth pilot didn't really need his health back then. Now it's just gone so soon..

Had a light bot task in android Gold 1 and brought out two gareths (lev 6 and 10) and a stalker (lev 7). They just were not able to survive whatever I did.
