Yeah...well, I'm working on leveling up an Atomizer to take the place of one of my two maxed Pun-Ts on my Cerberus. Don't know if it'll be immediately obvious but I can do some apples-to-apples testing with my account and my son's account in custom battles (good control of variables). I would be VERRRY interested in what your take is when you're done tinkering. Hope you post about it? Planning to. My Atomizer is just starting the upgrade cycle to 1.9 and that's like four days, so it won't be soon.

Well think of this way. If you buy the weapons cheaply, you'll need to level them up and Pixonic hopes you buy silver.

So I didn't spend a whole ton of time on testing, but I think I can safely say that a L9 Atomizer is about equivalent to a 2.12 Punisher-T, but with a few differences. It took two full unload cycles from the Punisher-T to achieve a kill that took four overheat/cooldown cycles from the Atomizer. Cooldown goes a lot faster than reload, so it's basically a wash. I think the Atomizer holds a tighter group at range but again, when it hits overheat, you have to let it cool down or your accuracy gets worse than the Punisher-T, which is consistently inconsistent past 350m.
In my particular installation, though, I've got a L10 Nucleon with the 2.12 Punisher-T and L9 Atomizer, on a 2.12 Cerberus, so 350m is a pretty sweet spot in terms of range and effect.
