So, I saw this movie over the holidays and despite all the negativity out there, found that I actually enjoyed it. I think people think too much or were just disappointed that "their" vision for what the final should have been wasn't put on screen. For the most part, I agreed with how the movie went. There were a couple of negatives for me. My big one was the lack of Rose Tico. I really liked her character and had hoped for more Finn/Rose interaction.
Anyway, before I go too much further, I wanted to ask, are we as a forum ready to discuss this? There's tons of stuff out there already so I think most people have already seen it or have been exposed to spoilers.

Haven't seen it, waiting on VHS.
But I did like Rouge One, my favourite SW movie.
Live long and prosecco.

I hear Beta will make a come back before VHS does! As for Rogue One, no arguments from me. Best SW movie ever!

Ahh, Rogue One, a fine example of how a great movie could be made by infering content from one line from Episode IV:
Mon Mothma: Many Bothans died to bring us this information.
I used to think the line was: many b*&%# spies died to bring us this information. Then, I finally looked it up and its "many Bothans died to bring us this information" yet, there was not a single Bothan in the Rogue One crew who went to steal the plans. Gotta love that SW Continuity!

Totally agree, I really enjoyed it and walked out wondering why it got such bad press. It was fast paced and crammed a bunch in, but it mostly tied things together and I fully enjoyed it.
SPOILER
Nearly choked on my popcorn when it looked like they killed off my favorite character half way through. Was about to Kylo Ren the screen with my drink straw.

Let's just say I heard enough and know enough about it (I watch SW videos daily and read all the reddit leaks surrounding the story) to not watch it in the cinema. And we could start a long debate but it would be pointless.
Enjoyed, good for you, I wish I could enjoy this trilogy too.

Star wars movies were events when it all started. Now i see them as just another new movie release. The concept is the same while the plot changes. Similar to Xman and batman movies. Not that interested. Personal opinion.

Just saw it. It was better than Last Jedi. Not as good as Force Awakens. Great action and the story wasn't too bad. Not really any spoilers if you've seen the trailer.... It did seem weird that there was this Oh Yeah, the Emperor is back discovery even though they had this epic death scene of him in Return of the Jedi. I guess that's what happens when Rian Johnson kills snoke like he wasn't important. I liked that Ben Solo was coming back into play and fighting his urge to be Kylo. One other thing that was a little frustrating was that Rey is now this Mega Powerful Jedi and I mean she's like more powerful than luke or vader ever was. What... a year or so has passed maybe and she's now got force lightning and super fast healing powers? Oh well, it's worth seeing the theater for sure though.

Not that interested. Personal opinion. Not so much. I saw “A New Hope” May 4, 1977. Almost no-one there, so not much of an ‘event’ except for science fiction fans (remember them?). But yeah, just another movie: you either want to see a star wars movie or you don’t, and all the whys just don’t matter. You don’t have to explain your feelings

Haven't seen the movie yet but I did score a soft copy of 8 episodes of The Mandalorian from a Star Wars fan friend of mine. Haven't had the time to watch it either but he says its good.

I really enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting much because of losses from Ep. VIII. Rogue One was meh. I didn't see Solo-the trailers turned me away. "I've got a good feeling about this" There's only one Han Solo, one Indiana Jones and one Trilogy(IV, V and VI).
I saw A New Hope at a drive-in in 1977-best movie experience...Ever!

What... a year or so has passed maybe and she's now got force lightning and super fast healing powers? Oh well, it's worth seeing the theater for sure though. I see a lot of hatred for Last Jedi but I actually liked it. Sure, there were some positively silly moments...like how a futuristic "space" bombing fleet relies of gravity to "drop bombs" instead of torpedoes like regular star fighters. Must be a throw back to Empire Strikes Back I guess. As for why Rey is so powerful, gotta remember that the Force is always about balance. That's why Darth Sidious and Darth Maul and Count Doku were so "powerful" compared to common Jedi and how Anakin brought balance to the Force by massacring all the Jedi. With Palpatine gone again, Rey will have to be on the look out for her polar opposite to emerge. If she limits her use of the Force, that could be one way to maintain balance, or if she sometimes dips into the Dark side like using lightening, that could also keep balance and keep her opposite from emerging. Finn is also Force sensitive, and we also saw that kid at the end of Last Jedi use the Force, so we know that things will just keep chugging along and at some point, history will repeat itself.

Ok, I'm going to talk a bit about the movie now so those who don't want to be spoiled, don't click the link below! I don't have a lot of complaints for the Stars Wars movies. I think most people take them way too seriously. They're good fun after all. One of the complaints I have for RoS is that Rose Tico only has 76 seconds of screen time. Like what the hell?? She had a huge role in TLJ and then nothing in the last movie. When the rest of the team goes off on their mission to find the Sith Wayfinder, she says "oh I have to stay behind and hold the fort". I know there the actress got a LOT of negativity online too. Some people are just stupid. They don't realize how "white" the SW films really are. Take for example, Finn. When the first pics of him came out in storm trooper armour, people were up in arms. A black storm trooper?? Personally, I thought it was cool even though I found the character Finn to be a bit over the top annoying. Not quite Jar Jar Binks annoying, but certainly not a fave of mine. But, did anyone else notice that the First Order officers were all white, and the storm trooper - at least the ones we saw out of armour - were all from visible minorities?
Anyway, rant over. I didn't mean to go off like that, but heck, I didn't realize I had that bone to pick!
Anyway, there's a lot of criticism about the story of RoS. I mean, who watches SW movies for the story? SW movies are basically special effects ?popcorn?! But, for me, I personally would have been fine if at the end of the movie, they left Rey dead and it was Ben Solo that "rose" up and took on the mantle of Skywalker. Granted, I don't think it was a bad thing for Rey to take on the mantle. I'm just saying in terms of dramatictism, Ben would have been a great if not better candidate for the name. I mean, this trilogy was as much about Ben/Kylo as it was about Rey - probably more in fact. I admit, I didn't like the character of Kylo at first. I found him to be too whiny and immature'ish, and then I realized, that was the point. He's like Zuko from Avatar The Last Airbender and had to find his own way in the world. He had set his feet on the dark path and tried his best to follow through, but there was always that little mama's boy part of him that wanted to go back to the light.
Ok, that's enough for now...I'll post more as more thoughts come to me.

Movie was okay, great movie but I didn't feel much of an impact at all. It seemed like a Disney film to me with a Star Wars theme. After binge watching the Expanse on Amazon and then The Witcher on Netflix, both shows had a greater impact for me. Maybe movies don't matter as much to me and to the general audience like before. That's why The Mandalorian seems to have more impact than the movie did.
