I'm interested to hear your thoughts and preferred loadouts if you run it with success in Champion league. I don't see them very often and I really don't recall the ones I've seen giving me serious challenges. That could have been because of the match-ups , rocket or flame for me that bypassed the physical shield, low lever or whatnot.
I have a 5% health skin and the legendary pilot for it and I was thinking about adding a healer for my next bot given the changes coming to the payouts. Also truth be told I dig the look of the Skin. It's a bad mama jama skin. It has muscly legs. Yes i said it. Muscly legs. Couple that with four brown flamethrowers on it, ohhh its a masterpiece of coordination with the sublet hints of brown mixing together. Don't hate, you know I'm right. I say if your bot looks good you play good. Well.. I probably didn't say but its most likely true.
Anyway. I would appreciate your help.

I'll second this. I wants to know as I've got that creepy Ancient Tyr collecting dust.

pulsar/marquess is a very good mid-range support build. I've had great success with vortex/aphid and vortex/shredder on yama, holding/healing on center beacon. I see a few scourge/spark brawler builds but the lock time for those weapons can be a detriment if played recklessly. Some say tyr makes a good brawler but not in my experience. I guess if it's fully leveled it could be. I see a lot of guys play tyr solo, but I've found playing tyr like mender is pretty effective. Team up with another bot and press.
oh yeah, make sure bot and weapons are appropriately leveled for your league. Tyr is a healer but if it can't hit well, the experience will be underwhelming.

There's at least one hard-hitting guy in our clan who runs with it. Maybe not all the time but he's been trying it out because it can dish out the healz and it can pack a wallop when you need it to.
I refuse to run a 5 Leech hangar. Bo-ring! Would a Tyr be a viable option for me? Yep, but I didn't go that route and I'm not leveling up another bot, ugh. Currently I run 2 phantoms, 2 leeches, 1 T-Falcon. If I brought in a Tyr I'd probably swap-out a Leech as the phantoms are so much fun. But, the Leeches are very effective.

I tend to find that the Tyrs I run up against are pretty freaking hard to kill.

I run one and it does wonders for me, for one it brings in the honor points, especially when staying with a titan, racked up almost 900k healing when I broke my damage record the other day. Another great thing is healing fills the titan bar, so I can fill mine within the first 2 minutes on smaller maps only using it. IT's a terror against tanks and really good against titans without the rockets. My only problem is when I run into ao juns, their flames just roast you up really fast, same for bots with cryo weapons or flames. I forgot to mention I am running mine with mk2 lv.4 storms and gusts, I have the Legendary Pilot along with skills for shield, increased healing, health, and mechanic and 3 maxed armor kits. Only change I would make is if I win another rime and then I'd put a pair of those on it's back.

I run a L10 one in low Champs with L9 tasters and absolutely love it. It's surprisingly durable and you can dish out some serious healing to Titans, it's also quite nimble, which is important to me.
Additionally, it's not (yet) another ability bot where you do nothing for half the time. I'll certainly be maxing mine eventually.

Run my Tyr even before I hit Champ and I'm still running it. Same loadout throughout: Shredder Pulsar

Ok, now I'm sorry I commented in Old-Cat's thread. I've created a thread that asks a perfectly good question that I'm legitimately interested in an everyone seems to love the OC more. I see how it is. I'ma go in the corner and cry now...

I’m still trying out a level 9Mk1 Tyr in my second string hanger (mostly level 9 bots for low Champions League field testing). I built it mainly because it looks cool, lol.
I’ve tried leadhose which is fun and storm gust. But at only lvl 9 and no premium modules and no healing mod, it can’t really brawl in Champions League (high or low), so I’m running scourge on it as a support bot/team semi-brawler. I also have the Skin and Legendary Pilot w Ad RH and True Ace.
IMO, Tyr is possibly the most Pilot-skill hungry bots in the game. You really can make a solid case for maxed pilot skills on this bot and need most of them to really make it shine. By comparison, AJs can do just fine with 2 to 3 skills.
FWIW, I don’t see Tyr making it into my PrimeTime hanger. It needs more than the mini-buff it got w burst healing to make it more competitive. Like 20% more speed during support mode, a second or two shorter cooldown and double the physical shield.
EDIT - that said, even the lower healing of Tyr (vs Mender, which IS a primetime bot) will often get you top HP for healing.

So, I started with a Pulsar/Shredder Tyr. It did ok in a support role. Now that I have the Ancient Tyr, I put 1 maxed Fortifier on it and some Corona/Halos and I only drop it to support my squad's Titans. For close up, you need weapons that will take down reds as fast as you can rather than use 1 1/2 clips from the Pulsar/Shredder combo. Anyway, stick with the Titans, keep their 6's clean and provide healing. That is a role the Tyr does well. Better than a Mender.....eh, I dunno, but it works.
Edit: with L.P., the 2nd skill I got was for even more boost to the front shield. I then went True Ace then Shotgun spread for Coronas.

I was spamming Pix with my Mender Legendary Pilot suggestion, but no response other than canned form letter garbage. Legendary Pilot Skill: 25% speed boost plus some DR when damaged blues are within 200m, maybe an extra healing pulse and some really cool alert sound that lets them know that help is on the way.

Level 12 Tyr with level 11 Corona/Shredders. Legendary Pilot and Skin. Very strong against pretty much anything besides Ao Jun or heavy Splash builds. The reload on the Shredders syncs up well to burst heal behind cover while reloading. Fun Bot to play.

I’ve run pulsar/marquess and it was fine. I’ll second the surprise effectiveness of scourge/sparks. Decent distance damage and very effective at close range.

I been running one since they came out.. I use the halo/corana build. Slap on a fortifier or two on it.... Just remember its not a brawler.. and pick and chose when you drop the 3rd/4th weapon to do heals.

I run one, <7000 cups Champs. Sitting at Lvl9 with Sigrun at Lieutenant.
It's a frogging beast on paper.
179,600 HP Base +15% Tough Guy +10% Armor Expert +10% 2x Passive Armor Kit
242,460 effective HP
128,000 Base Shield +20% Sigrun Support +25% Physical Shield Expert +10% Fortifier Passive Mod
198,400 effective shield
Typically running Mk2 Maxed PunTs or Scourge, lvl10 Sparks or Blaze up top. Shieldbreaker or LockDown for Active.
I often drop it late in game and take down Titans with it. Hide behind the Blue Titans providing healing and when they fall drop the light guns and get the Titan Slayer
I've run just about everything on it and the high DPS with variable range of Scourge / PunT make a huge difference. Up top some lockdown is nice, but I found high DPS is better. It's got the health to stand 1v1 but you have to kill that Red fast. PunTs and Scourge do okay at range but if you get charged by, e.g. Phantom, the hurt scales as they close.
As mentioned, this is one costly ride due to compounded value of Pilot Skills. I still want Sharpshooter for the PunTs or Guidance Operator for the Tazer build. Though I got the bot from OPs, this is easily my 2nd most expensive build behind Fenrir. So I'm running it. More fun than the Fenrir imho.
Just can't get exited about the Marquess, though I just got a pair to lvl9 so that may change. Pulsars also leave me cold with just not enough DPS, esp compared to maxed out Scourge or PunT. They are at least better than Wasp. Same with Shredders.
Shotguns...meh. Despite the massive shield and HP it seems to drain fast when brawling under 200m. I prefer to stay a little aloof and have cover nearby to switch to healing. Shotguns need too much close engagement.
Budget build Plasma might be cool but my Taran are just lvl11. If you can aim this is a good platform for them, 200-350m range is very comfortable.
Igniters okay but really hard to land shots even on this relatively slow platform. And you've got to be inside 350m but not too close they're very unwieldy up close. Still trying to find a place for my Igniters. Full Flamethrower build is fun, but not super effective and needs Lockdown. Looks baller tho.
Just getting my second Hussar, midrange build possibly good but once you draw someone's attention they're coming for you and Hussar / Marquess just doesn't have the DPS to deal with incoming hunters.

Thanks guys, for all the info. The timing is perfect. I'm currently building a Tyr, and I'm low Champs.

I will second a lot of what waffle has said. Use guns with a bit of range and try not to get dragged into knife fights. Full leadhose has done well for me, but I am currently working on replacing the Punishers with Shredders for some lockdown love.

I am running a maxed Tyr instead of another leech. I am using Igniters and Rimes. I am tired of the OP magic bots so I dont run them as much.
It can be a great bot when used correctly especially helping a tank bot/ titan. Another thing I notice is my Titan bar fills up very quickly when I run my Tyr.

Then when I want to attack its weapons and shield up, move in and fire then back out. wash, rinse and repeat. Man should have proof read that post LOL at work and flew it out. that first "using" isnt supposed to be there. I suck!

I run mine as a first drop beacon runner. I have road hog so he runs about 64 kph. I use Quantum Radar to help discourage AJs. Works really well in mid Champs. You just need to keep an eye on flankers.

I use one with rime/cryo, and I’d say it fills a support role well. If MM puts me against masters level opposition, I can 1v1 most anything non-leech. Against equal or higher opposition, it does best to defend retreating leech/phantom. Inevitably it attracts lots of phantom rushes since it’s a non-leech target, but a full volley of ice rockets, even at level 8-9, is usually a sufficient deterrent. I used to run blaze on it but didn’t feel like it had enough DPS to make a difference. Also would say it’s much better suited for Domination, where it can more often be a battle of attrition, compared to BR.

Passive Modules: AC, Fort, Heavy Armor Kit Active Module: Quantum Radar Works quite well in lower Champions League (6500 cups) Interested though in a scourge/spark setup.
