*Please ignore the third option in the poll. If you have removed or are planning to remove your Ares, it should be assumed you don't enjoy playing your Ares more with the introduction of Shield Breaker.*
I'm really enjoying the counter play of having of Shield Breaker used on me and countering that by using cover effectively. Am I the only one that finds it more fun to play their Ares since the introduction of Shield Breaker?

I never really ran one except for a few matches, but it got sold before SB along with it's brothers the hades and nemesis

Still have my Eldritch Ares sitting at Level 1, covered in dust. One day, maybe... but only for fun.
I do like killing them with average builds though. I hate that they included other types of shields as being broken by the module... but so far I haven't seen anyone use it for an Aegis or Ancile type shield... which is great.

I won two Edlritch Ares in free pulls from the 5.2 event. They were great until the Ares speed nerf while purple shielded. Now it's a lot harder to catch someone to gun them down. With the advent of the SB module, the game is more one-sided in favor of the Ao Jun. Let's face it, it is much easier to blow away a slower moving Ares with 6 seconds of bypassing the shield than it is to kill a 100 meter per second moving Ao Jun with 6 seconds of stealth detection.
Even though the Ares is a lot less lethal than it once was, I still keep both of mine in my regular lineup for lack of something better. And, I still like them.

I played Ares in the skirmishes last week. It was still powerful, and kind of fun. Yet again, I am never going to run one on my lineup.

Voted "never ran one" even though it's not technically true. I have 2 at lvl 5 I've used occasionally but they just don't really fit my playstyle so they mostly just gather dust in storage.

Engage purple princess power, engage Quantum Radar, engage spoogomatic ability. Watch Ao Jun fall from sky or land with about 10% health left. Rinse and repeat. Done it many times running Ares in Skirmish, and had my Ao Jun blown out of the sky many a time....

Unless said Ao Jun is running SB, then you may be in trouble. Took the words right out of my mouth. I just assume that most Ao Juns are running Shield Breaker (that's what I run on mine), and try to take them down when I get the opportunity. If that leaves me in a compromising position, then so be it. We all know how devastating an Ao Jun left unchecked can be.
Besides, that's one of the match ups I enjoy when running my Ares. Are you gonna take me out with that Ao Jun and Shield Breaker before I take you out with my Ares and Quantum Radar?

i play my Ao Jun since day 1, when i build in WS. I mean, like Quantum Radar is the counter. even though it's OP at max L20, mine is L9 or 10 at the time. pretty weak stuff, so no 「dookie」s given from me
I kept my L4 hades outta my lineup. Too OP. Now i play it more. The 「fluffernutter」, the shield is invincible at L1.
Hover is same way. L4 Hover is OP because it's skill bot. Doesn't get stronger, i mean it does, but skill pilot will do better than pairing a high lvl bot with 「fluffernutter」ing noob pilot

Only time I've used Ares has been in Skirmish or when I accidentally pick my "junk" hangar.
I prefer killing them with my Hover; even easier with the speed nerf. No SB required.

I have Ao Jun and Ares in my lineup, SB counter Ares more than Quantum Radar to Ao Jun. Don't believe? Check Ao Jun vs Ares hp, flight speed vs purple shield speed, Ao Jun can even drop down behind cover anytime during flight, Ares can be counter hard by any fast bots too.

Never ran an Ares, I've used SB a few times and loved it but phase shift is the boss, more useful in any situation and can be used to avoid suppression, helldives, lockdown, Leech effect, flying chickens etc etc.

I've rotated the Lance back into the lineup for a bit. It was my first big bot from way back in the day. Anyhow, I've had a couple of Ares drop in front of me and instantly pop their shields. I can only imagine the look on the players face when I engage SB and hit them with a pair of Igniters and a Glacier. Such a fun combination. They die real quick. Having said that I've been fortunate that haven't had Last Scams or activated Phase shiftiness. Never run an ARES but have got a Nemesis that has been on the receiving end of SB a few times. It does hurt.

Ao Juns with Shield Breaker are definitely a better counter to Ares, than Ares with Quantum Radar are to Ao Juns. It normally takes me 2 Quantum Radar activations to take down an Ao Jun with full health. With the Ao Jun, somtimes I can finish off an Ares so quickly, I can switch targets and start working another Ares if they're close enough.

I also believe it encourages sloppy play, Phase Shift and Advanced Repair Unit in particular. Not judging those who do, we all make gameplay choices based on what those choices mean to us. Much like why I chose to run an Ares, while many others chose not to.

Anyone could be running Shield Breaker on any bot, and it's matter of how quickly you can react to that.

I may have played Ares twice after I got it. I didn't like it, so it has sat in my hangar closet. But I love SB. So many players still just come out in the open because they have a purple shield. It's so much fun taking them down. Most of my bots use it.

A lot players will just come at me over confident because they have Shield Breaker equipped, only for me to take cover, and they over extend themselves.
I should also mention I do get killed plenty when I run my Ares. I'm not trying to make myself sound like I'm some pro Ares player.

I agree but the way that Pix dishes out the free (for now) Power Cells (I'm up to 70k and still climbing) I find myself using them in strategic situations when I believe the game is in the balance and I have strong chance of landing a gold/silver payout or I just do not want to give up my bot to a meta opponent.

<snipped> or I just do not want to give up my bot to a meta opponent. Truth. Sometimes it's not about winning or losing the battle. Sometimes it's just about beating that players bot, right then...
At any rate, I'm up about 20K more powercells than what I started with, so a little conspicuous Phase Shift is allowed.
Everything in moderation. And that includes moderation.

Makes it more fair, Ao jun can be shot down and my Ares can get torn a new one, however I very very rarely run into SB in upper Champions on iOS, it's mostly ps, with some Quantum Radar, and once in a blue moon I see one person running it.
