Lol, I just started my Redeemer's upgrade to Level 12 yesterday. The whole upgrade takes 5+ days. But since I don't have a plan to upgrade anything else and am silver dry, the upgrade overdrive would've barely made a difference to me.
What I need right now is more ways to make gold.

The question is, whether this will come back regularly, e.g. the 3rd weekend every month? That would be nice. I ended up starting the Lvl12 upgrade for my Mk1 Mender (52.5M Ag, normally 70M Ag) just a few hours before it expired.
Just in case, I plan to gather Ag for really expensive ones the 3rd weekend next month,

I like this upgrade overdrive event. This event is the only time that I'm willing to use my gold for speeding up the upgrade.

It's funny, I suggested on Reddit that Pixo should do "micro-events" like this (weekend of upgrade overdrive, then a weekend with extra tasks to get tokens for chests, etc.) and boom! Here we are. I know it's probably just a coincidence, but still... It’s not a well-thoughtout idea though. Upgrade overdrive coming out of nowhere without warning at such a small window is libel to have people miss it if they started a 5 to 6 day upgrade shortly before it came out. And a 2 day window is only enough for 1 upgrade, only best for premium modules that cost 40 mil for 2 days to try to squeeze in 2 upgrades. however what you just said is the perfect reason why this is a great event. A 5-6 day upgrade is great because it costs way to much for you to just do without an event hence the event (if it costs 40mil then you just saved 10mil!) and then there is the time it takes, you start it during the end of 1 of them and then by the time it finishes the next overdrive is there already (or at least almost).

Too long a time to waste during the actual cheap period. I base levelled heaps of weapons again this time and slotted in a Raijin to L11. Now do I Mk2 the mender and upgrade it to L9 in prep for another event?

My strategy of late has been -never rush anything outside of event -when upgrading something big, and I don’t have the ag, upgrade something small -when nothing in particular is pressing, catch up all my small upgrades -never upgrade something unless my bank roll will remain over 100m During event. Always rush upgrade if I have extra Ag to burn. Run around berserk collecting all the silvers Never rush upgrade unless silver for another big upgrade

Never start a long and expensive upgrade just before 11AM CEST on a Friday. In fact make sure your upgrades never finish more than a few hours after this timeslot. That way you wont ever miss out on an upgrade overdrive weekend.

I ad upgrade rush when planning the finishing time of an upgrade. Most ads and keys go to bronze chests to get the SC. Even better now I don't have any of those bots. Hardly WS anything except for finishing off the last 2000 sharts. I've only ever cracked the 100 mil silver mark once and briefly.

While bot and weapon upgrades are tempting to do in these events, the best items to focus on are the ones that have the highest Ag cost per unit time (high Ag, low time period). The best I can find are premium passive modules. They are 40 million Ag and only 24 hours time. With the 1 hour time reduction in ads, I was able to take a module from level 1 to its maximum of 6 over this past weekend. That's 50 million Ag saved and did not have to expend Au to rush anything. Now, if you do not have any modules to upgrade, then upgrading a bot or weapon to levels 11 or 12 is the next best option, though you only get to upgrade one thing one level. Otherwise, it would require using Au to rush the upgrade that its just not worth the Au given the need for pilot upgrades.
