Are you playing skirmish? Because they barely do damage and they are easy to avoid Domination mode in champ league. They hurt a lot cuz most players run mk1 12 or mk2 12.

I once had a game on moon map. After my beacon capper went down every bot I spawned in was instantly devastated by a Vortex Spectre. My only bot strong enough to survive and get to cover was Lance.
Because of the Vortex range the guy was able to sit at his spawn and lob missiles at me as soon as I appeared in my spawn. This is way worse than anything Ares or Au Jun has ever done to me.
PS I still remember his name. If I see him in a game I'm forget all about beacons and target him exclusively.

Anything with the Vortex is my first target. The best counter to it beside of Wall hugging is the mighty Ao Jun. There is a reason that some players, like to use this build, they feel the orgasm by seeing their enemy Health bar going down very quickly with one shot.

I had an interesting encounter with a Vortex Spectre yesterday. It launched its salvo of Vortexes (Vortices?) then hit me with Death Mark while they were mid-flight.
My Ao Jun got 1-shot.

Honestly I hate this thing even more than ao jun or ares Spiral, hydra and chimera along with arthy are the most despicably useless coward builds this damn game has. They are annoying as hell and chip some health but that’s all. They don’t do dmg, they usually camp behind their teammates skirts the whole game killing no one except finishing the occasional already crippled bot, capping no freaking beacons, not able to defend one. They only make a mild contribution if you’re playing TDM and when the occasional guy annoyed to the bones goes kamikaze into the reds spiders net just to kill the damn MF. Now vortex and aphid are acceptable and actually effective if played appropriately.

I agree. In general, I think the builds that do not require line of sight or have longer range should be limited in damage. There's already a problem with campers in lower leagues.
The one that find acceptable is Ao Guang. It can get annoying with its missiles, but when I fly I often get tagged by everybody from red team. So even though I have resistance they can still get back at me, so I think that's fair.

Share that hiding place with 2 or 3 others if need be. Sit in that hiding place and never move all game. Make sure to run away if reds come close. Your bot's health is much more important to the match than that beacon you are sitting next to. Once that red takes the beacon and leaves, just go right back to that same hiding spot. Someone else will turn that beacon back. These builds are worthless. High damage if they hit, but worthless. The real princess bot.

Wait, isn't vortex the one that has 350m meter range? Not that I'm defending it, but getting that close to enemy carries risk, so damage dealt is somewhat justified. Still, putting four of them together is too much but that's more of spectre problem. The ones that I think are bs are the ones that go around the obstacles. Such as chimeras- heavy weapons, lots of damage and 600m range.

They can be fun but I would not run one playing seriously against other champ squads. There is a reason you do not see many in top play. Now if I had a BR Account from pix then sure place it in a hangar since you can have pilots, modules and all gear maxed in multiple hangars. I would use it on those "perfect" maps. As it is I haven't run more than one hangar in months myself in any serious play. Specialty/ fun bots are mostly out unless they work on most maps against all types of reds well. If you like it run it, just don't be surprised you die allot or lose due to camping in a weak non beacon taking bot. As soon as most of us see those vortex anywhere on the field they just because enemy number one.

When I see homing missiles on the enemy team, I already know that our team has a big advantage. And I try to tell my teammates to LET HIM LIVE. Because it's almost like they're playing a man down. People who run those builds always stay back...they never push, and they are a huge detriment to their own team. The longer that bot stays on the field, the better it is for the opposing team. I still see a lot of fringe champs/high master players run these builds. They've learned how to stay alive longer, and that has helped them move up. But they've picked up really bad habits and they struggle to have any real impact when facing brawlers in Champions League. I remember mentioning in an older threat that guys who run these builds are routinely in the 40s, 30s and 20% win rates. They just don't get it. Or they're find constantly losing. So when you see those guys on the red side, rejoice! Your team now has a 25% greater chance to win. Hahahah.

Tis I! The lowsome homing missile user. I love to target purple shields. They hide behind walls when not in purple... right where I can take a chunk of their health. Next is the stealth jumpers, same thing, they jump, they hide, I hit. I’m in Expert league atm, and I regularly get in the top three. If that’s useless...I don’t know what to say.

I remember doing that specific move too. Was playing that build all day yesterday to see if I wanna max out the 4th vortex. prob won’t right now it’s really fun build when u do some work but my win rate dropped from 50% to 20%. I had some good games but my damage dropped like 100k too. The main prob is that everything is too friggin fast these days and vortex is only really good on short maps. I will bust this out for fun but I am way deadlier overall with a spectre using tarans or orkans. For everyone hating on vortex first of all they are not homing missiles, they lock on but they need to be aimed and timed. They are actually pretty difficult to use effectively.

Being moon, it could have sat at the center beacon in cover of the roof and had at least two other beacons within range. Right, that is pretty good map for them. More often though I see them sitting on the side of that dome because the roof while offering protection restricts ability to launch missiles. The idea being when danger approaches they use stealth jump to bail out. Still, it's not without some risks. Even in the cover that roof you have to be careful because it can quickly become a trap. In my experience vortex spectres are dangerous but they rely on help of their team to be effective. If teams are even I can most of times kill or at least chase away vortex spectre. If teams are not even I have bigger problems to worry about- such as an Ares train, for example.

I'll say that you're not learning good habits to become a stronger player. As mentioned, I've seen a lot of players learn some really bad habits because they survive longer overall with this bot. But what does this style of playing teach you to do? You learn the following: -Play passively -Don't learn how to brawl -Don't understand that it's more important to keep your beacon bar alive than to keep your bot alive These things will, in fact, make you a weaker player. And then you will have to UNLEARN the bad habits in order to actually become a better player. PS - I hate to tell you this, but the rest of your hangar is also reinforcing the passive, camping play style. You're going to stall out at expert or low master until you learn how to brawl.

Neither of them is good at pushing territory.

I hadn't played a spydra build for a while but I had to upgrade a pilot on a Raven so I ran the build again and I concur it is very effective against Fairies and the like. Panties drop and launch. Good build to counter the Fairies. I do get more enjoyment though dashing into the pink magic mist and shotgunning them from up close. I like to see the panic first hand.

But I don’t spend any $. So what you see is what I’ve won or exchanged in game currency for. I used to brawl in my Boa and my Leo, but the game mechanics have made them obsolete - read ‘the pink shield with lockdown and 8 weapons’. Now to survive I must avoid up close and personal, this is what the game teaches the people that don’t drop $$$.
