Update.: whooo my bird is a trip. Caw . Caw
It’s been quite the learning curve w it. I’ll pull of a hero move then the next game do something stupid and die in no time. I’m having a great time either way.
I did it. I added a 5th skill with all the gold I’m flush w all of a sudden ( thank you operations). I went w an extra jump because it’s full strength from the moment you add it. However I think I’ll switch to wonder worker when I level it. Or , dare I say it , I might add one more skill, for six. We will have to see.
Ohh. When I’m done upgrading my halos I’ll be able to drop 340k damage in 4.5 secs w the jump boost. Lol. That’s stuff aint right. I can’t believe the damage I can do in such a short time. And what makes me smile is, I’m sure the red i’m targeting can’t either.

Update
I made the switch to wonderworker from clever survivor for my fifth skill, I dig it. The auto-health returned while airborn is a big help, there is little need to phaseshift midair. Both clever survivor and wonderworker have their benefits. Wonderworker is clear, 7.5 health times two while in the air. Clever survivor isn't as clear at first. Counterintuitively I used it offensively, mostly to chip-jump off something and temporary boost my damage on a closing red, works like a charm. I might add a six skill on it next operation and bring it back.
My halos made it to twelve. Dang its a nasty little beast. Yes it dies quick when I make a mistake but when I play it well look out.
I posted in another thread about a double jump into center on Yam. The double jump and center work were perfect. I focused on the only red that saw me after I landed and took him out, then I turned my attention on the other two defending the beacon but for some reason were unaware of my presence. Perfect.........
Then I friggen hit the jump button by mistake and leapt out of center after I turned it white... LOL LOL....... Oh well. Name a bot one could even attempt some craaap like that? CAW... CAW.....

So true... Raven is an unforgiving bot... one screw up and she's toast! I've done the same thing on Yam and the center beacon! I've missed the jump into center, dropped to the ground and got fried. Or, accidentally jumped out of center and got brutalized! lol
By contrast... today was a great day for Yam and the center beacon! We were able to hold center and wore red down till there were just two or three left ... trapped at their home base. I did a lil hippity hop dance on center beacon... they'd toss some laser me now and then... to no effect and mates killed em off.

me i've been playing with timing Phase shift so either i can get Safeley to my Targets and Unload(but i waste seconds in which i can be using my Orks Halos) and a couple other maneuvers to cause Havok.

In Champions League I survive as long as I am smart about cover. I use the Nuke setup so I'm done close to most enemies but manage to wipe an Ares or two clean from cover once the bubble drops...it's not a winning build but it's a little variety. It forces me to think more.

Indeed! I didn't sell them all right off because I thought Ares was going to be a monster worth having. Turns out... naww... it's killable!

Okay its been almost been two months since I put this jumping death machine in the line up and I still think its been my best use of resources in ages. I still snicker at the heaps of rubble I see at my feet after a move perfectly executed, the remains of a reds that were feasted upon by my bird of prey. CAW CAW.. Yes its gets smoked up pretty easy if I step wrong but that has been the fun of learning it.
Here are a couple of thing I've learned. It can get to beacons faster than any bot in the game, and yes I'm including the strider too, I have one. It is a pretty close to a tank, at MK2 w skills and boosters it runs at almost 270k. I find myself messing around and seeing how long I can keep it up and running after multiple engagements. Also, the latest update was sure enough kind to the Bird. The jump damage boost is no joke. I have no problem taking out heavy bots if I time my shots properly w the jump. I have to say knowing who is carrying last stand/ or has triggered makes the choice of targets pretty darn easy too.
I started the build just to do something different and have fun. I didn't expect it would end up being such a force in the right spot. Ive found it to be perfectly viable in Champ League, and depending on the map and composition of the field a game changer.
Caw on peoples....

My Raven updates: The Baidu bird (tiger stripe) is Level 12, with L12 Tulus and Pins, L3 reactors, normal repair module, and with Road Hog, Adamant Road Hog, Wonderworker, Quartermaster, and Adamant Mechanic all maxed out. He doesn't walk when he's on the ground, he jogs (which is a neat thing to see after plodding around in Griffins). I played a Champs TDM on Yamantau last night and made it almost entirely through the match with just this bird, even notching up kills with one Tulu & one Pin missing. Another TDM on Dreadnought resulted in me killing the same two players over and over as they pitched Griffins and Natashas at me.
My Goldfinch is coming along, at Level 9 right now (room to grow) with L9 Tarans (also room to grow) and L7 or L8 Magnums (ALSO room to grow), L3 reactors, Advanced Repair, Road Hog, Adamant Road Hog, Wonderworker (spent 1000 gold to make that happen), and Armor Expert. Same speed as Baidu, just less durability, and 350m weapons instead of 500m, but more immediate firepower. I'll be adding a fifth skill when I build up the gold reserve, hopefully Mechanic.
Like Old-Cat says, you cover ground SO fast in these, and the ability to re-direct in mid-air is really cool. I've hooked around buildings in Shenzen, and you can basically jump from one outside beacon OVER center and to the edge of the opposite beacon if you've done it right. You can also stop in mid-air. My favorite mode with the Ravens is Domination, too, because it's pretty easy to find lightly defended beacons and get in with a kill and flip before reds realize you're on the way and move to reinforce.

I had a game on the same map a few nights ago that i used my double after baiting an ares into popping, I dragged him around the corner w a backwards jump and a quick left. A quick corner shoot to lock him and trigger his last stand, then the kill. The guy got so pissed i think i killed two more of his. I was on coms with my clan giving a play by play and we were laughing so hard I could barely see the screen because of the tears. " hear he comes again" " Oh crap i killed another" It was hysterical. The only bot Ive seen with the power to put reds on tilt so consistently is a hydra build. I love playing this thing...

I figured I would give an update in light of the latest Raven deal. I play it fairly aggressive with shotguns. so my room for error is tight. Yes I often bite off more than I can chew, that's the fun of it. However when I time things correctly and pull off some crazy craaap this Bird still give me more smiles than any bot I've run. Let me say this I primarily play beaconrush. If you chose it as your opener, one on one to a side beacon it has no match, Strider, Phantom or whatever is no competition. In flight I'm often able to trigger my opponents anticontrol and lock them before they make it. If not I have a massive payload waiting. I have to say playing it mid-game has made the difference between a loss and a win many times. The speed at which it can make it to an uncovered beacon is ridiculous. And ability to change levels I cant over state. A quick jump up to a spot others cant has given me beacons otherwise would have been lost, or positioned me to at take it soon after. I, when running solo, will sometimes make it a game to go after Ao Juns, Leechs or princess bots that are just popping out in the action when there ability is ready. If the spot is right, as soon as I see their "magic powers" are about to end I'm heading their way. I love going after Aujuns. When I see them heading for a landing I'm already in the air. They land and poof goes their last stand and secs later their bot. Ohh if you're playing close range weapons use a chip jump ( jump into something but not in the air very high) to trigger the boost. I have killed so many invaders I can no longer count them all. Most people have no idea how much firepower you can lay down on them, so they just charge in all prideful and lose their bot. LOL. Caw on peoples..
edit... I made it to MK2 4. Its still going the whole way MK2 12. Its soo strong already. Lock down shotguns are MK2 3, they are going to 4 for sure. I might try some of the new rockets and see how they work. I not too keen on having to wait 19 secs for them to be at full strength.

I've just started really playing with the raven. Running a Spark/Scourge build as those weapons are already nicely levelled and I really like that build on my Hover.
It's only L5 but I'm really enjoying it. Learning how the jumps work etc. Finding out how far and what I can leap over. Looking forward to getting it up to L9 by the end of the month and getting another pilot skill. I currently have wonder worker. Beggars can't be choosers sometimes.

I like the looks and mechanics of a regular CDB Raven. I like the combat effectiveness of a Halo / Corona Raven. I like the mechanics of an Arbalest / Ballista 1100m sniper Raven. I like how ECUs keep me alive when shooting for centre beacons.

This is one nasty bird.
Note the chip jump he uses at the 8:40 mark to heal. This can be used on a closing red to get the damage boost. I use it all the time on phantoms and such trying to get in my grill. It’s doesn’t work out so well for them.

Raven on the way to lv.8, but still a beast. This morning I got to have some fun only using the raven on dreadnought, ended with 13 kills, 7 beacons, and ~2mil damage. Gotta say the extra damage really helps, and I just realized the pilot I have has clever survivor from when I used it a while ago.

Waited forever. Patience was rewarded with a $5 Raven. Finally got it up into the Mk2 process. Loaded Adrian pilot, Anti Control, Last Stand, Death Mark, and Cryo Rime. The main thing I just changed up was replaced Death Mark with Advance Repair Unit = super helpful. Obviously using DM on top of the jump damage boost, the cryo damage vulnerability (frozen death mark essentially) and other damage enhancements is insane. However, I have found the Advanced Repair Unit is really important for the Raven longevity (because of the way I play it), and it still does insane work without DM. I will also test Phase Shift, but like my Phantom, using Advanced Repair Unit seems to be far more useful to combat longevity = can cause more havoc! Was discussing with Old-Cat about whether to use Raven or Phantom first for beacons. My feeling is that Shotty Raven would be good first, but not Cryo unless you’re in squad supporting Phantoms to a beacon. I’m running cryo, so what I do is Phantom first, then I use raven later in match to ambush and get to uncontested beacons quickly if we’re behind. I imagine Lottie reading this and being like: The enemies that get killed by my Cryo Raven are like: Caw Caw, Caawwww

I have two Ravens, but the one I consistently use is an Arbalista setup that I put in my Long Range hangar I use on maps like Canyon, Yam, and Springfield. The weapons are only level 7 and the bot level 5, but it would be interesting to see how it would perform with maxed weapons, considering the 20% damage bonus upon jumping.

The sacrificial Raven ... or.... crazy jumps that draw reds back home so team can snag side beacons. I'm kinda surprised that I've not seen anyone else pull this lil stunt. Maybe there's something I'm missing but when my team of randoms are paying attention, it works really well. At the start of the battle, on CANYON and ROME I'll use one of Ravens to cross the entire map, right into red's backyard! This causes at least two or three (or more) of the reds to return home to kill me. On ROME, with two jumps you can jump right over the coliseum. On CANYON, if you start at the edge, with two jumps you can cross the ravine and end up a few feet from red's home beacon. Any else got some long distance crossings they'd like to share?
