Thread for BR - Shenzhen tactics...
Keys:
1. Red almost immediately surrendered territory by dropping inappropriate "first drops" 2. Cup award/penalty that were implemented several months ago have placed pilots inappropriately into Masters and Champion League, i.e. good bots levelled up are not enough, tactics matter in the higher War Robots leagues, and drop choice is also a tactic
Comments/criticism welcome

I used to run straight for center but I lost a lot of brave little Kumihos that way.
Now days I head for the closest side beacon when I drop.

I used to run straight for center but I lost a lot of brave little Kumihos that way. Now days I head for the closest side beacon when I drop. Rome, Shenzhen, Dreadnaught, all have 3 linear beacons, arranged across the mid-map line. As such, I figure out which of these 3 beacons on these maps is the path of least resistance, or which one has a bit challenging the beacon that I believe I can successfully counter. This is partially why I run Glory and Halo on my Strider. If I see an opening for the CB at Shenz, I’ll swallow a PC and take it. If I think I can and keep moving to “try” to mitigate the fire that will come from being in the Shenzhen center “kick me sign on my back”. . I used to run Kumi as well, but replaced Kumi with Strider for smaller maps and Hellburner for larger maps. One thing I see, is it seems like everyone just wants damage at range. Ok. But that doesn’t work well in BR...bad tactic

My favorite trick if i see the reds have a few players none clan or squad.. Rush right down the middle and go for the red home beacon in a strider... sometimes if my team paying attention they get the others while i tie up 2-3 reds trying to protect the red home beacon... or sometimes the player that drops the long range fury/natty I just hose with the Ember... normally i drop 1-2 reds and sometimes cap the red home beacon.. then if BR drop a Merc and start defending it.. those maps will throw the reds off if my team paying attention.

Tactics:
1. Better play at the opening capping, could have faced the Ares better than I did, wrong bot to charge... 2. Better teamwork, looking back, I'm not sure if my spawn in locations were good 3. Not meching out early, matters sometimes, like here

Full-squad BR*1 clan vs Full-squad EXO clan.
Tactics:
1. Territory control, getting there, and holding. Considering who we are playing (high paying Phildo buyers), not bad
2. Respawning at good locations, and regroup for a counter attack.
3. It's EXO, we just don't have the Phildos, modules, etc. But, not an easy match for them either.

26 Mar 19 Tactics:
1. Outgunned, but held territory well
2. The reds did a nice job on spawn timing. The waited until just the right time to maximize damage, good on them.
3. They had a zero activity pilot, this could have easily been the difference.

5 Apr 19 Played a top clan in iOS (CORP - Mexican Clan). 1. I made two bad choices to win CB (first in Ao Jun - just dumb, the second time in Hover - a rage suicide charge, PO'd about the passive play of my teammates ). 2. Center-right was poorly defended (when I went into their home spaw in Pursuer). 3. Blues could have spawned to center-left, but spawned back to "defend home", a questionable tactic, as there this put 4 or so blues back to home, denying a chance for forward territory control Song: Donna Summers, song: I Feel Love (remix)

20 Apr 19, randoms vs 2-squad, tactics:
1. Spawned left, so went left to cap B. 2. After the B cap, pushed to C but red spawned in. 3. Spawned into D, as red was contesting this beacon. 4. Pinned reds to the home (E) area 5. Released the Kraken

25 Apr 19, no boosters, power cells, or last Stan. Tactics: 1. Started right, so pushed right to get (D). 2. Spawned home to push into center (had a hostile beacon task to complete....) 3. Pushed into their home (E), but without success 4. Pushed to (C) again to try and chip down on the hostile beacon task, no luck 5. Red came over to contest (B), but I had help, used the high cover in the area to flank 6. Stan from Pixonic accepted my "Facebook friend request" @ 4:36... Shenzhen is one of the maps I don't really feel like I've got a solid plan for. I always go for one of the side beacons, depending on drop side. From there, if I'm on the tunnel beacon side, I start trying to pressure center or reds that are firing at blue home beacon. If I'm on the "parking lot" beacon side, I'll move up to the entrance closest to reds and pressure any center charges or the reds standing on their home beacon and shooting. If I don't feel much pressure there, I'll even duck around the corner to start tagging reds in the side.
After my first bot goes down, I'll basically repeat if we are losing/have lost one of the side beacons, whichever side it is. This map more than most, though, I feel like I'm just reacting to circumstances, rather than having a plan.

If I spawn toward the middle, then I read things a bit to see where I can be helpful. It that last video (from yesterday, 25 Apr), I was going to CB due to the "15 hostile beacon" task, otherwise I wouldn't do this. Especially with Jun. I agree with "reacting to circumstances"...a plan is good for about 5 seconds, if that

True that, but if I'm reacting to circumstances, I'm being re-active, not proactive. With a (good) plan, I can often head off things before they become a situation. Sure, there are times to set fire to the plan and do the thing that needs to be done, but a good, general plan is more effective except in those times. For example, once I picked up on the plan to stick to the reverse slope of the killbox on Yam, as opposed to reacting to circumstances, I think my success rate there went up about 25%, maybe more. I'm looking for something similar on Shenzhen. Maybe I just need more focus on pressuring center or the red home beacon.

Keep in mind these games are fate-driven. Some you're going to lose no matter what. However, I'll say this, look for chinks in the armor to exploit. When I'm up high in Hover, I can see who is coming out of stealth, loss of purple shield, etc. and I'll exploit this if I can.
It's all in these videos, the mistakes as well as good tactics. Each time I get better, not much, but a little. Doing something wrong points out the error. Seeing slow blues drop time and time again frustrates me, but its their game too, and they've got the right to play dumb.

7 May 19 tactics:
1. Spawned right, so went right to try to cap (D), but without success. 2. Spawned to home to try my luck on the other side (B) 3. (B) was also well-defended, but looked for a chance to crack the line and get the beacon bar under control (we were 4-capped pretty early on) 4. Finally won (B) with blue's beacon bar under 50% and red's still at 100%. 5. Although I spawned Hover at (B) and got on the roof, my usual flank/troll thing with Scourge would not cut it, due to the beacon bar, so I forced a push to, somehow, cap another beacon 6. The red's over-extended themselves a bit, and allowed a come-back, and their beacons, bots and match fell apart around the time (D) was won captured.
My take on red's demise is they went for broke, going into our home too soon in the match, and losing too many bots, their last stand was at (B), but too little too late. Great come-from-behind by these blues...hang in there!

27 Jul 19, 6-squad vs 3-squad, tactics: 1. So after grabbing the home beacon (which gives me a 30 second durability boost), I went to CB (E), a risky move at Shenzhen, but I had an Invader with me with a bold pilot ( linearblade ). 2. Went in the reds home right away to terrorize. Actually the point of doing this is to draw the spawns to home so the side beacons are easier to win for the blue team. 3. The reds had 3 CHN, which are a well respected and strong clan in iOS, so I still needed to be cautious. 4. The reds won (B) back, so I went over to try to get it with Pursuer, meched, spawned Hover and was able to secure the beacon, but by this time the reds were meching out. 5. Easy to spawn raid with success when fighting with VOX, linearblade and another BR*1 pilot, but CHN, again are always dangerous, even when there are only 3. 13 Aug 19, 6-squad (Rubicon) vs 4-squad (EXO), tactics:
1. Spawned left (Ao Jun), went left, but saw 2 reds interested in the beacon, so I got on top of the large structure with the sloped roof to figure out my next move. 2. Won the exchange (still in Ao Jun) and pushed into their home. This is in order to attempted to get them to spawn home, diluting their chances of holding territory in more forward positions. 3. When I meched Ao Jun, I spawned Hover and proceeded to troll. The hidden gem of Hover is its ability to troll from high positions. I've spent my fair share of time in custom games, exploring good places up high....and this map has a lot of such places. Trolling is a powerful tactic, while it doesn't show up on the final score, it does help the blues win.

15 Aug 19, randos vs 4-squad (LOF), tactics:
1. Spawned left, so went left, a Loki was there trolling the beacon, so used crack to kill it. 2. The rest of the sequence is bizarre, not sure what the squad was trying to do, but seems like whatever it was, was backfiring on them. I can't say I've seem one like this before, and FYI, the pilots in the LOF squad are usually a pain in the neck. Head scratcher to me how this one went down like it did.
