Currently running a Tulumbas Doc and really enjoying it. Heard good things about the Hydra Doc, but four of those will take most of my WSP. Thought I'd get some feedback before committing.
What I've heard that's positive is...
> reloads coincide well with the Quick Draw cooldown > can stagger launches for maximum screen shake trolling
WHat I haven't heard a lot of is damage and efficacy. Any thoughts...?

Cannot comment on the damage, but the troll factor is super high. I try to be disciplined and ignore the Hydras, use cover, etc, but every once in a while, I just cannot tolerate any more homing missiles, and I go berserk after these guys. Dredd77 , don't make me buy an iphone just to hunt you down on iOS... So yes, in that regard, I guess they are pretty effective at riling up the panda population...

It is getting to the point where i am thinking about getting a couple just to annoy people even though I believe the damage is minimal but the mental damage is much greater!

The Hydra is a psychological weapon.. When used correctly it can do its damage.

"Tilt" weapons are more effective against bad opponents than good opponents, so I usually avoid them, the same way that "Win More" cards are less effective in Magic.
A Tulu Doc is very good and can light things up with a quickness. I'd stick to the Tulu Doc.
Side note: is anyone distressed by just how freaking *fast* Jesse's are? It's basically an aphid Patton moving at Gep speeds. The larger profile does help, however.

I hate to say this... I have two maxed Doc. I very much enjoy the Tulu version. I just bought 4 Hydra.
I hate the Hydra and think it needs to be nerfed: not fun gameplay. Typically it's played by poor players who hang back while their team gets meched, but the missile AI is far too smart so it's very effective on tight maps or in an anti-Fury role on SZ, Canyons, etc. Now consider:
A Hydra Doc does just 11.5% less damage per minute than a RDB Griffin. It does that from an extra 100 meters, from cover, on a platform 45% quicker than the Griffin. Factor in hit rate and even with the Griffin's splash damage there are very few places it will outperform the Doc Hydras. The biggest issue comes down to play style- in one case you're by necessity getting shot at and taking that load off your teammates, in the other you're not. Most players who use the Hydra hurt their team, usually badly. As their terrible win-rates attest. But played smart...

Funny, but I purchased 2 more Tuls (I had 2 already from my RDB Griff) and 4 Hydras (I had none) a few weeks back in prep for 2 Doc after I tested them. I'm weeks away from leveling all 4 Hydras though. While I dislike the mid-range tilt Pix is pushing the game to, I think the Tul Doc and Hydra Doc (and Molot Mk2 Doc) will be the next mid-range standards that push mid-range into a new era of true mobile support (cause the Carnage doesn't pack enough punch and the Fury is just too slow to keep up).

LOL, I go after the screen shakers after a while too, especially if my team is clearly winning. The only thing more annoying are geckos. For some reason, even though the don't do all that much damage, I break into a sweat when one of those things is zeroed in on me. Dredd- if you try out, post a review plz.

I've executed, and have been running it for a few games today. I'll definitely be doing a write-up on it after getting some feel for them

The thing is tho, a hydra/spiral griffin in dead city/powerplant can do amazing aphid control. And on long range maps you can hunt furies. I imagine a doc would net the same.I have the griff setup, it's just not leveled yet.
And the troll factor is high ? Just need to level some zenits and load em on my fury for the lulz;)

I'm pretty interested in the results of your experiment, too, Judge. I want a Doc. And if I don't spin one before the event's over, I'll probably shell out the cash and buy one. Wouldn't normally, but who knows when they'll be for regular purchase.

I used to run a Hydra Griff and saved it for last bot... (tried pairing it with both Spirals & Aphids) it doesn't do that much damage IMO but I found it handy for picking off anyone with low HP ... or someone camped in cover

I can feel a Hydra buff coming? Why: cause no one thinks they are worth it. Stealth buff makes me go...
