I will say this: War Robots pilots, as a group, are exceedingly optimistic.
This is my thought process:
There was a time when people used to complain that they had too much silver. No problem, Pixonic fixed that. Over the course of time, people have repeatedly complained about this bot or that weapon. No problem, Pixonic just makes changes willy-nilly, then again, and usually once more until the complainers have no possible grounds for complaint, at least about that piece of equipment. No problem, the experimenters move on to the next effective combination and the process begins again. Then the overwhelming barrage of complaints by people who are dissatisfied because mag gepards rule silver and "that's not right" are finally heard and we get this fantastic new matchmaker.
And now, we are going to start on the trident? Really?
Full disclosure - I don't like tridents, they are part of the reason I don't much like the style of play that goes with top tier. But I still don't think that asking Pixonic to change something because "I don't like it and it doesn't suit my playstyle" is the answer.
Ask yourself how many of these fixes have been good for the game? How many times do you have to stick your fingers in the fire before you figure out that it is hot?
I am one of those who loved the game, for many reasons, not the least of which was the variety of play available. I have almost no top tier experience, other than being crushed by maxed hangars because we dared to run a squad of 6 pilots. I will say that what used to be low silver, or high silver, or trash gold or whatever you want to call it was always a much more enjoyable experience for me than test server play, or any other time I was in, competing with and/or against maxed bots.
While I occasionally see a flash of hope these days (after hundreds of games) they are few and far between. I actually believe they are just statistical anomalies that prove nothing. Almost every game has a range of bots from 6/9 to 12/12. Even if it is possible to make balanced teams in this fashion, the game experience for those at the low end of the scale is very comparable to being "clubbed" (oh, how people love to throw that word around). The new model seems to put much more emphasis on the team's performance/balance than it does on any individual player's gaming experience.
I am going to try to stick it out until leagues arrives in hopes that it is a playable solution.
But, given past performances, it is difficult to hold out much hope.

The fact is that people who are invested too much in the game either cause they've played for too long, or mostly play to socialize with clans and squads, or may or may not have Stockholm syndrome will find ways to defend the game no matter what. Newer casual players like me who mostly played random matches to kill time will be put off by the lack of fun gameplay, and most likely will move on. For the past week I've opened the app exactly once each day to collect the wsps. Meanwhile I'm catching up with my steam library, and keeping an eye on the developments, and if things don't improve, I'll just uninstall the app.

- lag is getting unbearable, - a team of 12/12 down to 6/9 is plain stupidity, - matching complete randoms against full clan platoons, regardless of level, is dumb,

I am losing interest but I keep playing because my friends love it and the community is fun, plus there's still a little bit of fun left in the game for me. Probably start playing more once a new update comes out.

I am still enjoying it. Maybe I will lose interest in a few more months or find myself in a chill clan that doesn't require trophies and are around my levels.
The new MM stabilising and incoming league system is something I want to see. Then there are the new weapons.

I think the nature of the game will not help, long term.
I mean, it's quite repetitive really.
Add to that the slow progression, personally I didn't pay, and I see how it takes ages to get decent weapons. I would love to buy a second Orkan... I can't. And I'm not even talking about a 5th slot or a big gold bot. Not sure I will have the patience to get there.
Bringing new ideas like a healing tool (that you could place in weapon slots) could seriously give a second breath to the game. Imagine a light-slot-tool to heal ourselves, and a medium slot to heal others. We could have bots like the golem with a Thunder, a medium tool to heal others and a light tool to heal himself. That would definitely change the gameplay into a more "team-play" kind of game.
One thing that bring my motivation down these days are the over-power of the Gareth. I had a Golem with Thunder/Orkan/Magnum. Face to face, I couldn't even destroy his shield before he killed me. Ridiculous especially considering this bot is actually super-fast to go along with his crazy resistance. No surprise we see them everywhere now, with such speed and resistance, it is really a ridiculously over-powered robot.
In short, balance and repetition are problems in this game.

This seems like a lead in to a commercial for a new product I heard about... Imagine, if you will, watching this person on TV, recounting his experiences with Gareths (a premium bot) against the Golem (an EARLY Ag bot). Fade to black... Then you hear an announcer say: "Well, lets just bring out the NERF HAMMER! Guaranteed to further kill the GAME! Make your hanger the only one that matters! Castrate the power and speed of every bot but the ONE YOU LIKE! Are you tired of those snobby players who get the best gear to be the best? NERF HAMMER! Just one smack, and we can fix that! Don't want to run anything but a Destrier with Punishers? NERF HAMMER! We won't ever tell you that you are wrong if you cry loud enough! Miss playing your Cossack with ECUs and survivning the whole game? Tired of those pesky DB Griffons killing you when you land? Give them a taste of THE NERF HAMMER!" "Remember, if your bot is less a Mech and more of a WRECK, you need, THE NERF HAMMER!!" "Call 1800-PIX-NERF, where we can crush others' dreams in order to lift your spirits! For just 19.99 you get not one, but if you call now, 2! passes of the NERF HAMMER against anything that bothers you in the game. Just, please, be nice to us on FB!"

Well coincidence I have a parallel discussion about that so I'm not sure it's constructive to have it here also, but compare to the Guepard which cost exactly the same price. Similar speed, similar firepower, but with the addition of a shield which is a major advantage. Something doesn't add up here, either this bot is overpowered, or you need to make it much more expensive than the Guepard if the goal is for the Gareth to become the absolute reference.
But frankly, it's been 30 years I play various games, it's the first time I see a bot having a shield, and keeping full speed advantage. Usually when you get a shield, it's additional weight, which means a loss of speed. The Gareth happens to have no weakness, as he has one of the best speed in the game, formidable resistance for a light bot, and still heavy firepower. Hell, it doesn't even sacrifice firepower (like the Rhino) when protected... both bots with shields on, the Gareth (light bot) actually has bigger firepower than the Rhino... go figure.
AFAIC, the Gareth (and the Galahad to a lesser extend) is/are ridiculously overpowered. But that's another topic I guess.

I hate it, finally got a match with equal competition to my hanger and I get #1 in damage and we win...now I know the next battle I q for will be close to maxed hangers and I will get juiced, this very much makes me lose interest in this game as I'm essentially getting punished for having a good match...how anyone can defend this mm is beyond me...

So does the Galahad, 20%. Also...the gepard had no MM penalty while the Gareth did. One was meant for the beginning stages, the other was meant for late game play. Well, now all bots play against all bots... It's not just the Gareth and Galahad that are hard to kill... All the bots at the top are tough. Maybe pix will give us a better separation between beginners and late gamers again... But they are NOT OP. THERE ARE MANY COUNTERS. I die just as often in Galahad as in the Rhino or anything else if I meet a counter.

So make it more expensive than Guepard then. At least it would be clear than it's supposed to be the reference for light bots because basically it is a Guepard with an additional shield AND better upgrades once you upgrade it.
I would be fine to say it would not be OP if one of the following would be true :
* The Gareth would be much slower. What it would win in defense would be lost in speed like it is usually the case in such games. * The Gareth would lose firepower just like the Rhino when using it's shield. It would make sense.
Since none of this is true, for me it's very clearly OP. But whatever, it's kinda off-topic so I will not insist more on that topic in this thread.

Not surprised to see people losing interest with an MM that riggs games.
If you are good the game gets rigged so that you'll lose, if you are lousy you will get rigged to win.
So, if skills don't matter and bots and weapons don't either, what else is there? Bragging at lunch that you are so good that your lvl 8 Boa got ripped a new one by a lvl 12 TT Fury?
Any MM that doesn't take some sort of consideration to strength of active hangar seems daft.

I understand that this is a divisive and contentious topic for many. When frustrations run high, how we treat one another can slip a little. But when we start slipping into trollspace is when it tells me that the thread has outlived any useful purpose.
MODERATION: Locking.
