I like it; I still wonder if hangar switching for different styles of play is going to be possible however.

My (slightly cynical) summary of the article: "keep playing, it'll get better, we promise"

League play based on performance - nice that they are making that transparent finally. Having a badge that will be assigned to you when the system settles down will help a lot in understanding who is who and does their game play really match up with their line up and their words. And the rewards being commensurate with league/performance will help a lot. Wondering what this will mean for clans whose members will now stretch across leagues. Guess we'll see that shake itself out as well.

I like it; I still wonder if hangar switching for different styles of play is going to be possible however. I would really like to be able to find battles of low- or mid-level robots piloted by high-level pilots. The variety in gameplay would be nice and keeping the skill levels high would ensure excitement. Of course, I still need to develop a high level of skill to qualify! I hope we (both Pixonic and I) eventually get to that point.

What i'm surprised is they relied on us for the old mm explanation, it now shows we are much bigger in Pix's eyes then some people may think. i wonder how the leagueswill be though, maybe like clash of clans?

Good now I suggest people go there in mass and tell them how much you would like to see them have intercourse with a meat grinder

I posted this response to the article in the comments:
The problems you identified are the right ones and I am encouraged to see you are putting effort into this. However…
You identified 3 goals for the new matchmaking, but none of them are being demonstrated so far in the system you’ve put into place.
Transparency?—?there is no info on where I can expect to be placed, no explanation of the influence my weapons/bots have on that placement. Why not give info first rather than just throwing everything into chaos?
Better balancing?—?there is no balance at all right now. There is something tied to my weapon level?—?at level 8 weapons I never see anyone with substantially weaker weapons, but they almost always have heavier bots and premium bots that can be levelled all the way up to max. My 4/8 Vityaz against a 10/9 Carnage isn’t balanced in any way.
Better rewards?—?as you note, this is still under development. Right now I’m not getting much in the way of rewards due to being thrown in with maxed hangars on a regular basis… it’s work just to avoid being meched out while still making a contribution to the team.
Your long term intention may be good, but the short term implementation has been terrible. Essentially you are asking the player base that isn’t in the top tier to just take a beating for a few weeks in order for the ratings to stabilize. I don’t want to be one of these players who tanks their win rate / Elo rating in order to go on a huge winning/reward streak, but the way you’ve implemented this encourages this kind of behaviour. The fact that matches lack any kind of sanity also gives the sense that you don’t really care, which just gives people an excuse to exploit the system.
Just some things to consider for the future…

At least now there is a more formal explanation of what to expect. See for yourself: t.co/sW4UaB5g0SI like the idea of the new MM. I also am sad and believe it kills much of the variety of play that was available before the change. I enjoyed switching between LG heavies and premium bots in squads with clan to use AG mediums in Last Stand squads for very different game play. That seems to be lost forever at this point...on to big and premium bots. Pixonic likes big bots ... no other brother can deny.

Pixonic gave a great explanation on their reasoning behind the the new MM. It's a good read here: warrobots/new-matchmaking-what-it-is-all-about-and-whats-next-69698fcc7929#.u9a6lye86" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">medium.com/ warrobots/new-matchmaking-what-it-is-all-about-and-whats-next-69698fcc7929#.u9a6lye86 One important thing they bring up is not everyone is competitive and want every game to be challenging. A lot of people play the game on their phone to relax and just have a good round or two. To that end they may consider a new game mode for those players. One thing I miss is under the new MM, as you progress you'll never be able to play the light mech game anymore. It's something that I really enjoyed where the bots were fast and maneuverable allowing for a fluid game. You can just go around pew-pew with each other instead of being 2-shotted by trebs or aephids. Maybe a mode where everyone starts with the similar light bot loadout and just set them loose in the map. Kind of like SPEC MIATA class in auto racing.

MODERATION: Merged Pixonic Post about new MM on Twitter thread by @davids66 into this one.
EDIT: Also moved similar thread from amoebastudios . Discovered that when threads are merged, the board lines up the posts in time-sequence order.
EDIT: Deleted two posts from ł⸰§ĦȺĐ◎ŴƧŦḀɌ from the other threads pointing to this one (redundant).
EDIT: Renamed thread to something more indicative of content, per Deadalready's good suggestion

Just trying to do my part as a peon Anyway, having read that article a few too many times, I will say Pixonic must have somebody in their PR department with at least 1 brain cell left that's still firing. I've very glad to see them take a more direct reaction approach instead of just hiding behind the wall-o-flames that's always burning on their Facebook presence.

Why Pixo can't be more precise on the time these important changes like league will take place. Sure they have timetables and fixed plans for such things. Transparency, as stated in the article, is what we eagerly want.

The transparency is obvious. If you want to be competitive spend real money so you can have a maxed out hangar. Simple as.

Repeating such a negative viewpoint "ad naseum" however will only earn you more grief from the community. According to a lot more people's opinions that just my own, War Robots has one of the better ratios of P2W vs F2P features in recent mobile gaming. Addendum: If you want to see P2W hell for yourself, I'd suggest a tour of such games as World of Tanks or Age of War. Both of those platforms are all about P2W and getting whales addicted to micro-transactions.

I suggest changing the thread title, it's currently as generic as white bread. ------------------- So Pix finally shared some details about Match Making and their plans for the future. Certainly they should have said much more and told us much earlier as both IOs and Android communities are in a bit of a rage spiral. While I can understand the obfuscated goals were to confuse those who were aiming to manipulate the system, the side effect was to completely alienate those who weren't paying attention to the medias. My thoughts overall on their new Goals they are still bumbling their way through the game, in particular they are still failing on their goal to be more transparent. Something they need (which would make a big difference to outreach) is to add messages to the startup screen "we are now using our new match making system" with a link to a detailed post. Their aim to get better balance is what we've been wanting for a long time and I'm still all for it and honestly it makes sense, better players should be grouped with better players. Finally I'm looking forward to better rewards, it's interesting that the daily task list is a hold over from a better system, higher tier players need better incentives for achieving higher tiers and fighting much harder battles. Personally I think it would go a long way increase the gold/silver rewards for reaching higher tiers, that way players don't feel "punished" for getting better and all the difficult fights connected.

Really good blog post by the developer. It lays out where they want to go in broad terms and seems reasonable. It buys patience while matchmaker improves. It also acknowledges that stomping newbs for 80+% win rates is not healthy even though a subset of the player base is here for that.
Also good mod work.

League system and transparency is what I've been begging for since the beginning
As for spending real money.. That's why they made the game to produce revenues profits and income... If you can't spend a few bucks to support a game you like and the developers well then..... Not saying anyone has to be a whale.. But $10 or so a month covers the overhead

League system and transparency is what I've been begging for since the beginning As I commented on that blog, what they are saying sounds very solid. But they aren't demonstrating those principles in how they are going about implementing the new matchmaker. That's a little discouraging.

That's a little discouraging. the very idea that they are doing it is great news for everyone. Maybe they will make it like another game, such as clash of clans, or clash royale? im not sure.

What was promised sounded good. The actual rollout though has been plagued with problems, (tankers, highly uneven matches server crashes etc),and these do not seem to be getting addressed quickly or with any degree of transparency.
As one would expect from such a roll out (kind of like Obama Care) the result has been a huge outcry of upset people. I hope Pix solves the issues and creates a great mm system, but I'm not holding my breath.

If you can't spend a few bucks to support a game you like and the developers well then..... Not saying anyone has to be a whale.. But $10 or so a month covers the overhead This has been the problem, many of us paid real money for the game we liked and made number 1 rank clans. Should we review that. We bought Rog's, so they nerffed it because we beat people with them. Then we bought Geps, need I mention what they did to people buying these, mags, aphids. These people want you to spend money, I would think they would support the top players, instead of having apple refund money for making items obsolete. The pretending other things added into the game has altered this, is ridiculous by this games team. Items like listed above have been outright nerfed, in speed, in health, as well as weapons slowed down, made less accurate etc. The transparency is buying max 12, so you can play against level 1, because they STILL do not have these max 12 hanger players playing each other, BUT always weaker players.
