Is the Hover an upgrade or sidestep to the Griffin
1) It's got more HP than a Griffin 2) It's faster than Griffin 3) Glide is better than jump in most circumstances and refreshes faster. But 4) It has 1 less light weapon spot (approximately 5/6ths the DPS)
We see hangars with 3+ Griffins (because it's the best Ag bot), The Hover is much easier to get than many premium bots --> is it an upgrade? (My opinion is yes, slightly)
Thanks Grondak

In my opinion, Glide is not better than Griffin's jump to avoid incoming enemy fire, but it gives you a lot more mobility compared to a Griffin if you have to cap beacons. The Hover is a good bot, but it's much more expensive than a Griffin and that's probably why you don't see them so much on the battlefield.

Hover: Just 20% less whack than a Griff, 50kph vs 35, 175HP instead of 158 on the Griffin, Glide special ability and Russel says its better... What's not to like?

For me, the Hover is way more fun than the Griffin. I've decided to keep buying Hover components until I have a second Hover. I have 3 Griffins and I only use 1. One of the things I like best about the Hover is the attack from the air. It's the closest thing to a strafing run that you will get in this game. Basically, pick a red that is currently engaged - meaning not looking in your direction. Hit the ability button, and as you're about to come back down, tap the ability button until you're in range of your weapons. Then, unload! Ground speed is good too. Basically on par with the Galahad.

He can jump just like a Griffin, and I do not mean “similar”, I mean 100% identical. You tap ability button while running, and it jumps same length, same range and trajectory, but with 7 seconds cooldown. How cool is that?

The Hover is what a Griffin would be if it joined a Boyband. That said, its a pretty neat mech! Its got a long learning curve and lots of possible potential moves. It can switch attack vectors in seconds and automatically has high ground. It can shoot almost directly down while most mechs cant shoot directly up. Let that sink in. Its early but as skill levels develop this bot will rise in utility. Its kbot level power, methinks. Just not obviously so.

The key difference is that altough it goes up faster, it goes down much slower so you are easier to hit. Am I wrong? It can be, it was not available in the last test server so my memories can be not so accurate.

I found the Hover not quite as... menacing, as the Griff for DB type builds. I Actually liked it with the evil Hydra, was surprisingly effective and can get to some interesting vantage points.
Also, Molots are nice with it. The range is pretty nice and, again, you can get where you need to be easier and quicker...
But I agree, the jump feels more combat effective on the Griff, and I am much more prone to use it for direct attacks... plus it doesn't get as high up (and therefore above Sniper cover) as the Hover does. I am still experimenting with it though... and will try Puns next.
But so far, for DB and Plasma, I prefer Griff over Hover.
IMO, YMMV

Better to use it's superior ground speed for most things, and only use the glide ability for when you need to get somewhere fast or to give you that tactical height advantage when cornered. It jumps higher than the Griffin but not further if you don't use the glide. That first jump is almost a straight vertical jump, regardless if you were moving forward at the time or not. I did this move today. It's too bad the game ended just as I was about to fire. There was a red, engaged with other blues. It was behind a pillar on Dead City. I used my glide to get up, and then tapped it until I rounded the corner. I was still moving sideways as I turned to face the red. Classic arial side strafe. Woud have worked too I think. As with any other medium bot, don't go 1v1 with most bots. Don't attack an aware enemy. Stalk and ambush are the best tactics. If the opponent knows you're in a Hover, they will conserve their ammo until you jump and then reach your apex.

I have a level 9 hover that I put in time to time for fun. I love it with the Tarans/Magnum or even the Tarans/Aphid. You can tear up a Haechi that is waiting on its dash ability cool down with the Tarans/Magnum. I think the bot would be great if you could simply tap the ability button while descending and the "hover" turns off allowing the bot to fall like a Griffin to the ground. I agree with a lot of statements above that the hover feature is great to gaining ground/capping beacons and getting up high to attack....but once the attack is over I'm like "Get Down...Down...Ahhh crap" Zeus Thwapped again.
