I don't get how does one use this rig. When I fire from afar, they enter cover and usually I'm left without a target. And sometimes they just outrange me, and getting there means being open. When I go to the side beacons, it's usually a CQC brawl and I get burst'd. On places like Powerplant, I just get bursted as there's too much cover and it takes a while to get going.
So my main problem with it is I either have no target(everyone behind cover) or I die. What gives?

Don't start spraying bullets indiscriminately, you need to "sneak" up on people, aka, don't alert them to your presence until you're ready to shoot for a bit, unless you're trying to close off a movement lane. You'll rarely get to dump a full clip into someone. And you play yo-yo a lot; close in a bit while shooting, they get closer to shoot back, you back up, they get scared at the life loss and begin to retreat, start closing again, ad nauseam. Often you'll do a "death button jump", aka, when you know you'll kill them, jump forward to finish them off. Strip anciles as well. Punishers excel at this.
Less than 25% clip=dump the rest. Be near cover for the end of your clip. 10 seconds for reload can be an eternity.
On close range maps your ideal movement/firing lanes are limited, you'll not want to try to last too long unless the reds are playing poorly and setting themselves up for you.

Punisher griffin is a situational bot with a fairly high learning curve. You have to think of it in terms of 355-500 range engagement. I usually only drop mine when the field has a lot of ancilots/lancelots kicking around. This is when the punisher's abilities truly shine.
It's also very useful in clearing out tunnels or tight spaces. It is indeed a lead hose because those bullets spray with a spread and you can hit multiple opponents packed tightly together. I once wiped out 3 bots in canyon all hiding under the bridge trying to save their beacon. I just sat out at around 400m and sprayed all them to death at the same time. It was glorious.
Keep in mind that punishers can also knock down ancile shields of bots hiding behind cover. This is because of the big ancile bubble.
When you get the punishers up to a certain level (11+) you can almost play it like a death button setup. PDB and Orkan setups will still torch you 1 on 1 but your range gives more tactical flexibility.

I have been playing punisher thunder leo quite a bit lately. If you can't handle punisher griffin then maybe give that a go.
Depending on the target and map either retreat to 500m or close in to as nearly nothing as you can get.

I appreciate the replies. I guess I'll try to follow Thunderkiss' advice.
I might try a Thunder Punisher Leo in the future. However I only have 2 "properly" leveled puns right now, and I'm upgrading the Zeus(later with es) and Gekkos atm.

don't forget to corner shoot, you can get 3 punishers on someone at times which is the same as a leo.
