How far can the Hover fly? And does it travel faster when it's in the air like the other jumping bots?

I really don't know much about this bot but how does it beat a kumi to a beacon. The kumi has an average speed of about 105km/h. how does the hover trump that. does it glide that fast or something? Lol - Maybe glider doesn't stop everytime there is a tiny bump in the map! lol. But seriously though there is no possible way a glider can beat a Kumi to any of the centre beacons that matter if the pilot knows how the Dash-glide a Kumi. I can get it to glide pretty fast, easily over taking the fast bots. The dashes have the burst speed. A Kumi will beat anything to that first beacon. But with the ability to glide over nearly all obsticals you're going to start seeing them show up where normally you would have been alone. All it takes is some practice with the glide button. Use the button like jump button...a quick tap to jump. Don't hold it. Decend a bit to gain speed then tap the button a couple times to level out and gain more speed. Then its a matter of maintining glide angle and alt. Sometimes it helps to do a 'long burn' mid glide to gain alt to reach your destination, or to pop up a bit to blast a red as you go by. Just play with it some and you'll begin seeing the possibilities. It can be a real terror.

Koalabear - Not sure on distance. It's hard to measure something like that as it is totally dependent on your use of fuel and your jumping off point. I can jump over the high side of the ship in Dread and glide almost to the opposite beacon. On flat/level it's shorter. Jumping from the ledge on either side of Yama you will land on center platform. I jump from the first beacon and land on the ramp up to center, either side. Will see if I can get a clan mate into a custom to do some range finding.

So, I just had a couple of games where there was a Hover on the red team...must have been the same idiot cause he/she was doing the same thing. He would hit the ability button and jump straight up into the air....like really really high. At one point, I even managed 2 treb blasts before he came down. Second shot was reduced damage of course... man, what a waste of a bot!

To be fair, we need to give people time to really pilot this thing and find it’s sweet spot (if there is one). But so far it’s like the Rhino to me - 100% of my interactions with it end in its demise.

I'm surprised Hover is perceived as underwhelming (I don't have one and am unlikely to level one up in the near future).
I mean, it's almost a Griffin weapon wise and similar in HP, too. All the while it has much better speed and the same jump capability but only better. Why shouldn't it be able to fill the same roles a Griffin, meaning, DB, PDB, RDB, Punishers, Molots. Did I miss anything? Is the missing light slot really so relevant?

I think you're right, I've faced several of them now in iOS Master and I checked hangers after and they were all level 9+ with 10-12 weapons and they were not bad at all, very much like a griffin. The most impressive ones were PDB, DB and one gentleman had a scourge/gekko that laid down a lot of pain on dead city hovering behind center when bots were distracted.

My kumi had a really hard time on the new map. Went left and it just got bogged down so many times I was starting to get frustrated. but the only positive aspect about a bog down is that there is usually a glide spot around that area. But had absolutely no clue on that map where they were.
I saw a few gliders yesterday and they were fast. haven't raced one in the Kumi just yet. the thing I was noticing is the hovers went down really fast as they pushed foreward.

I actually played both Yama and city side SF last night and had hovers spawn on my team. Beat them to Yama centre by a fair bit and beat them to SF centre by a mile.

The were gliding and not racing so much as jusy getting to the bloody beacon ( was surpised on SF, 99.99% i am alone trying to get that centre). I should add we were on the faster side of yama (with the straight ramp) and I hit my daah glides perfectly And I never get home Beacons except by accident and don't know if they did.

Came here to check if there was a thread on Hover advice before making my a post of my own. I just got the Hover Bot from the superchest (I paid with 3 days of my life watching ad after ad for bronze chests instead of money) and I really enjoy the little guy. Word around the game is that they will be offering a shocktrain this coming Christmas event, and I have 2k components of shocktrain left to go, so I'm waiting for the 710 shocktrain component deals to come back in a week or so and I will DEFINITELY be putting those things on this badboy. I also noticed that there's no weight classification for this robot. Where it should have said "light", "medium", or "heavy", they instead put "Scout". What do you mean add after add,you can only watch couple of adds per day, just say you bought one lol

Here are the recommended setups: * Tarans/Aphid: You can use the Aphid to hit the enemy while taking cover (hiding behind a wall.) When the enemy’s HP is low you can Glide in the air and finish him off with your Tarans. I prefer to use the Tarans since it ignores the energy shield and is powerful when hitting a lancelot (or similar bots like a Rhino) from behind, hence effectively damaging your enemy since you’re not hitting his shield. * Orkans/Pintas: Many people like to use Orkans since it ignores the physical shield and can severely damage bots like Lancelot, Rhino, or Rajin, regardless from the position you hit them from. I've found full-Punisher loadouts work surprisingly well, too. The Hover is sturdy but fast, meaning it can both control distance (highly important when using weapons with as short effective range as Punishers) and also afford to control distance, as it can tank a very decent amount of punishment. I think it may be a superior Punisher platform to the Griffin actually, because even with a jump and increased firepower, a Griffin still seems to have trouble keeping enemies in range, or surviving retaliatory attacks. There's an added meta advantage to this build: The Hover is a shiny new bot that practically nobody owns, so enemies are naturally more interested and intent on your destruction, causing them to seek you out and close in whenever they get the chance- And are promptly turned to swiss cheese.

I didn't find the punishers in my hanger practical to the bot. To each his own style I guess. Isn't seeking the enemies interests and attraction the main point of the Hover? I use it on long distance maps like Yamantu and sneak my way to the other side. It's funny how on one occasion I got the attention of 3 bots and tried to waste their time so that the battle was being fought 3v5 to help my team capture the middle beacon. We lost the battle since my team failed to utilize the advantage but the potential of the bot, as a beacon capper and enemy distractor, is priceless. You should try it one day.

I saw a few yesterday. I think people were playing with it for fun. they seemed to have made no impact on the outcome. managed to get in range once with 3 tarans and it just dropped out of the sky. I think this thing needs much more of something. like stealth of a stalker. now that would be fun and competitive. love to see another bot in the meta.

Hover is a terrible name for that bot. They should have named it Hoover..because its ability sucks.

Does it shoot "over" the shield of a lance when shooting it head on from a height with tarans? Just tried it on the new map. Yes it does

Update. So, I finally got my Hover. It's at level 5 now, on its way to level 6. I've made it a DB Hover for now since my ultimate plan is to put a pair of Shocktrains on it. I haven't battled with it yet. The only game I've played with it in my hangar so far was on Springfield, and the reds had 2 tankers and my sniper Nat got barely scratched the whole game.
Anyway, I did run some tests on it. It can easily jump to the top of the Dreadnought ship. On Shenzhen, I traveled from the home beacon to about the centre beacon. And getting on to that roof where the Griffins normally roost is child's play. It's like play Jetpack Joyride with a giant robot. Used sparingly, the glide ability can let you skim over the ground. I haven't raced anyone yet so I don't know how fast it travels while gliding.

I like the way you think, Koalabear! I just got my Hover (aka Diet Griffin) earlier as well and I'll also be outfitting it with shocktrains in the future. Currently levelling. I've tried mag/tarans, punishers and orkans on it. So far I've been having good luck with the pin/tulu combination. This bot is not only fun, but can move your weapons in a jiffy to where they are needed on the field. Its no slouch on foot either. With pin/tulus, they can exert pressure over a large territory. It also seems that War Robots cant measure distance diagonally. So the distance shown is straight from the hover to target mech at ground level.
The hover's weakness seems to be its jump. Its way higher than needed. I'd be happy with half its vertical jump.

They are too fast..even my lvl 8 kumiho can’t catch it..i had a race with it in power plant and I just hardly made it to enemy home beacon while he was standing there and killing enemy bots like a boss..also stole my beacon..poor kumiho can’t keep up with glide although st short range kumiho is faster I really don't know much about this bot but how does it beat a kumi to a beacon. The kumi has an average speed of about 105km/h. how does the hover trump that. does it glide that fast or something? I won the race AND the battle
