Last week, I decided I’d come back to playing, albeit at a less frequent rate, and I cobbled enough gold to get a shiny new rog, which I leveled to seven and strapped some orkans on, replacing my db Griffin. I was pretty excited, since ork rog is a really popular bot, but to be honest, it’s been pretty disappointing. As a hunter, it gets bullied by ancile bots (ie half of all the bots on the field). Plus, I’m not sure if anybody else has this issue, but I feel like my Orkan gunning is way less accurate in a rog than a Griffin or rhino. As a beacon runner it’s also somewhat underwhelming, although it can certainly grab beacons, like rhino, beacon running is instant death and a bit of a waste of its potential. Right now I’m using the rog with the Taranosaurus build, replacing my pdb, which I find much better than the Orkan Rog. If anybody who is good at ork rog tell me how they play it and mistakes I may be making, I’d appreciate it.

Hit, run, reload, repeat. I've recently switched to tarans on both my rogs also. The timing on taran recharge times very well with the jump cool down, while the orkan reload works pretty well with griff jump cool down. Ork rog is cool tho, no doubt.
For targeting, if you're moving left, aim at the right side of the box, moving right aim at left side.

bcs of Anciles, I actually changed from an Orkan Rog to an Orkan Doc, and now plan to add the Rog back to the lineup as Taran Rog. these days I’m seeing more and more Rogs carrying Tarans.
the lack of enough ammunition is always an issue for the Orkan Rog to me. if you find the Taran Rog better, I would recommend sticking to it,

Running 1 orkan rog with taran rog backup and a scourge orkan doc. Rogs agility, is best used for hit and run as mentioned earlier. Whittle down to where you can finish opponent with orks. Im also putting together a schocktrain rog but that will take time.

I've been running a scourge rog as a beacon runner. Having a long-range weapon with autolock seems to make it more survivable. Last match I grabbed 2 beacons and was part of killing 2 bots, including a Haechi. Generally, I prefer tarans to orkans on the rog just b/c they don't run out of gas quite as quickly and rog doesn't get away as well as it used to with all of the dashes.

Also good because rogs speed and agility can close or maintain distance. Crucial in increasing scourge damage. I try to maintain at least 1 beam in contact while jumping cover to cover as I close.

Some approaches i use for my orkan rog.
Dont attack plasma head on unless you can wipe them out in one salvo.
Always recharge your orkans so there is a lot of down time
Make the big boys walk into your orkans from around a corner.
Get inside the ancile to take out ancilots.
Charge non plasma griffins using multiple jumps.

Best way to take out ancilots is by going inside their bubble and hide back...specially when they are reloading..that way I like kumiho coz of its dash ability..I can take out 2 plasmacilot easily with my ork kumi if can hide unlike rog however against other bots like rdb I prefer rog instead of kumi coz even though I can dash out and increase dist it’s lil hard to fire..never go inside plasma Leo with ancile ..that bot will wreck you even if you unload your full orks on it unless you got some good backup ofc..choose your target properly and ork rog is deadly..I prefer them mostly against griff no matter whatever setup they got I can take any grif out..Leo is hard to kill coz of huge hp unless got space to hide I’ll try to avoid 1 Vs 1 ..and carnage thunder /zues..never go straight charging against them they will wreck you for sure..well this are some normal bots I face usually so hope it can help out..as other said best way is charge your ork..jump unload 75% and hide

Jump less and use it very strategically such that you aren’t jumping into a snake pit or where you will expose flanks
Take more advantage of splash - you can start removing an Ancile at 338m
Entering the Ancile requires you to be less than 30m from the target
Learn to wait for them to make mistakes before attacking
When exposed, staying nimble, moving unpredictably, and knowing jump cool down will increase battle longevity
It is not always necessary to grab the beacon immediately. Don’t rush in if you know you’re gonna die. Grab beacons when it is relatively safe. Learn to grab beacons on the outer perimeter of the beacon zone.
Use cover better
Take advantage of corner shooting (1 Orkan only)
Learn to stagger fire so you’re not left without shots when in a CQC skirmish if you determine unloading a full salvo isn’t going to do the job
Improve situational awareness to include not only ranges and equipment of nearby reds, but also of those in the distance with LR that can hit your jump happy robot
Explore useful travel routes on maps for getting better angles for closing distance
Learn to select targets more carefully, and beware of those that will pose a greater threat especially if you aren’t teamed up with someone
Remember that you can begin to withdraw behind cover even while one of the Orkans is still unloading, as the speed of the last projectiles as you withdraw will continue on to finish off the target. This helps battle longevity, and is a skillful way to murder without excessively exposing your giblets

Good advice, I've just started playing my Rog that I've had for a while and never really used. It's good fun especially with orkans, mine is only level 6 with level 7 orkans but still smashes shield bots and is quick enough to avoid a lot of fire from the reds. Just gotta play it smart and avoid fights you know you cannot win or just wear them down while avoiding incoming fire. I can still take out a natasha with 2 full salvos.

Cover is your element. When mechs enter they're in your territory. Plan your run from start to finish with 3 possible exits from point of engagement. Never take first option. Your opponent will expect it. Move slash and keep moving.

When you're engaging, run sideways then Quickly switch to the opposite direction by jumping, that can help you to avoid some plasma and rockets, also cornershoot a lot and don't jump if you see a a Zeus or a Treb targeting you. Also do some unexpected moves to dodge any fire by climbing, like in Moon, in front of the tunnel, you can jump to climb on the top when you can't escape from the other ways.

I also trading in my DB Griff for on Orkan Rog. It took me a while to figure it out. You cant go around bullying other bots, but you can play hide and seek with them. After I got the hang of it, I went out and bought another. It fits my playing style over the slower bots. I dont own a dash, so the Rog is it for me. I absolutely love to go Ancilot hunting. For me its so gratifying to wait, wait, wait, and then rush in and unload my orks. Mine are at level 12 so they hit pretty hard. You just need to remember that the Rog is not the kinda bot to sit there, aim, and hold the red button down. You wont win that kinda fight that often. You gotta be patient, and hit and run. Just give yourself some time playing with it, be patient, and upgrade the orks as best as you can.
