Ok so I just purchased the Hover bot to have fun with it. Apparently I became a perfect target for those annoying, no life snipers How should I use my new shiny bot? Any thoughts?

Buy/win the second hangar and drop the Hover on maps that are difficult to use sniper setup. For instance Moon map.

Shocktrains if you can afford them. I sure can't, much less two. Not sure what to do w/ that light slot though. I wouldn't recommend Gekko (Gecko?) 'cause that'll just attract attention, and it's not like an ECU can be fitted there :/

Put it on the shelf to collect dust. I wasn't a big fan of the ability on the test server and shared my experiences with the devs. I like the bot, the animations, and the hardpoints, but the ability makes you a target for the snipers. Maybe use it to peek your head over buildings/obstacles to fire, but it is very difficult to do without over-exposing yourself.

I would get shocktrains if you can afford them. Otherwise, orkans/pinata.

If/when I get a hoverbot, I'm going to run it with tulumbas and pins. It feels like a perfect platform for RDBing.

If/when I get a hoverbot, I'm going to run it with tulumbas and pins. It feels like a perfect platform for RDBing. And that's because it is. I've taken mine for a few test runs and have found that even at level 1, an RDB Hover is able to project a decent presence on the battlefield. It's fast on the ground but has a decent health pool (one that looks to be on par with a Griffin), meaning it can both gain territory and survive if punished for doing so. It doesn't even need to be airborn in order to become a threat, which I found especially surprising.

Maybe use it to peek your head over buildings/obstacles to fire, but it is very difficult to do without over-exposing yourself. I've actually found that the ability attracts substantially less sniper fire than I originally thought. Of course I've been roasted out of the sky once or twice, but I've found that a good Hover pilot doesn't take to the air in order to gain altitude, but rather to take advantage of the significant speed boost the glide ability affords. The initial leap, on most maps, only leaves you exposed for a few seconds, and unless a sniper is particularly alert they won't have time to react, after which point you can enjoy the relative safety and speed gliding affords you.

3 organs and a bank robbery. What no first born? ..... That's cheap They assume that everyone already sold their first born for a Dash/Inquisitor.

Any thoughts? aceboy44 How did you purchase it? Real money, silver, gold, components ? I mentioned in other threads that I stopped playing the game until version 3.4 is released since I was interested in the Hover bot. I bought it with RM and used my 10K gold and silver to speed upgrade the bot to level 9 or 10. Now I regret every resources I tossed wasting it on a weak bot like the Hover bot (the test server demonstrated that it can hover extremely high. On the real server it's a different story.) Oh well Pixonic just lost another valuable customer I guess......

I’m curious to see how it might go with the new medium Aphid prototype. Aphids often benefit from that little extra height. That way you don’t necessarily have to hover high enough to expose yourself either, just enough to benefit the middle trajectory. Might be a lot of hot air like some of my other ideas, but I’m curious nonetheless. For now I’d avoid Orkans in favour of using an instant damage setup to minimise exposure time. Shocktrain/Gekko might be interesting, but Taran/Magnum is what I’d be doing. Tulu/Pin might also be interesting, but only if the Tulus are at least lvl 10 or 11 otherwise it’s too weak like a mosquito Rog.

The only thing a Shocktrain Hover is gonna dominate is being the award winner for best looking death by Zeus. Here is a a clip of me calling upon all Zeus pilots to hunt and target all Shocktrain Hover:

I decided to go for Tarans/Alphid. Shocktrains are way too expensive

Buy shocktrain. It can do a lot of damage with only 1 shot. For light weapon slot, I guess it should be gekko.

I think the shocktrain or tulus can be quite annoying with this setup. Not sure about about taran aphids but I'm sure that can be annoying too. I'd rather try to keep my distance to avoid getting rushed so I think I'd opt for the farther 500M ranged stuff.

Other: Newly buffed Molot-Ts and a Molot or Gekko. You can get to some interesting spots I would assume... and just play traffic cop for a bit. Or, Hydras and Spiral. Or, Scourge and Gekko. Range that can take advantage of the positional flexibility that this thing can bring.
But Tulus and Pin might be pretty good, too.
FYI: I will not advocate Sucktrains till they address the going straight through Physical Shields issue... and maybe not even then. IDC if they are good or not... the idea of them is crap. The weapon is crap. The whole idea just pisses me off. Those in my matches who use them will be targeted by me. At the cost of the game if need be.
IMO. YMMV.

Shocktrains do nearly point-blank Thunder damage from midrange, while ignoring anciles to boot. They're like bringing machine gun to a knife fight. Tulumbas do have very high burst DPS—higher than Tarans. But the cycle DPS of Tarans is about 5x higher than Tulumbas. So the bots would play very differently depending on the load out.

I'm just saying if you have the means or can acquire them sure go for it. But i've seen a few around and I'm not discrediting the taran setup. But I rather use his ability and stay away from getting rushed by a dash bot. I'd prefer the tulu or hydra or even shocktrain and be a support player picking on bots that may be weak against my loadout and using the element of surprise with unusal peaks or something of that sort. To each their own of course just my 0.02 on the matter.
