What about the prospect of immediately swapping to your low/wide set? I'd think that could be viable if your Jesse was the first mech out of your hanger or if you had the discipline to always pull him out at a beacon far from the fight.

As often, I might misplaced some words :-D Those should be read as follows: (First, lower, wide set) or (second, high, narrow set), so first one IS the wide one =) And I think lights are not as good for the Beacon rush, they are better suited for Dominance.

Russel - I started laughing when the music started. Nicely done.
Great, useful advice on weapon placement. Pretty much what I did, but I'll swap in the Pins now.
Thanks!

Russel - I started laughing when the music started. Nicely done. Great, useful advice on weapon placement. Pretty much what I did, but I'll swap in the Pins now. Thanks! Hey, I'm glad you liked it! And as for weapon pin\pinata - always remember that people are pretty much different animals amongst themselves, and they might prefer completely different things. As an example - an acquaintance of mine showed his 12\12 hagar pic consisting of RDB, DB, PDB, Stuka Griffin and a Molot one. One _THOUGHT_ that I might play hangar full of same bots dimmed sun pretty much for me at THAT instant. But this guy was happy because that hangar got him to Champions league pretty cheap, and he was happy to play the same bot over and over, as long as it helps him to wreck good damage. So, as I told earlier - you should mix-n-match and try for yourself, I can just give some numbers and my personal experience!

Yes, and I'm not one to blindly adhere to expert advice (unless you are talking me through brain surgery - pretty sure I wouldn't improvise there). I did try the Pinatas in about ten fights last night. I'd say they worked about 30% of the time - which is probably good for a relative noob. With practice, could I be deadly? Maybe. But I'll swap in the pins and see if they work better. I hated them on Natasha, but that bot is cursed - and I don't think anything works on her. I also had no luck running them on a destrier...but that's a starter bot anyway, and I never see one anymore, so...that tells me something. I'll give it shot. It's nothing I can't switch back in no time flat. Really appreciate your input. Seems like a good community here.

The most effective way to understand which weapons and bots are for you, is by understanding your play style. i.e. Brawlers (The dudes fighting in the trenches), Campers (Personally, I think they get a lot of hate, but 1 or 2 Sniper Weapons on a team never hurts.), and Mid-Range (The ones who are able to switch between)

My hangar probably looks schizophrenic to a veteran player. I have one dedicated sniper - he's a lot of fun, but I don't like to attract too much hate karma. I have one brawler because I don't have the right bot for it yet, but don't have a better 4th bot available. I have (had) two midrange bots, because I like that best and can equip competently for it. Now I have this light bot and am exploring the wonderful world of beacon larceny. I'm a fistful of gold from a fifth slot, which I plan to make a dedicated brawler slot (probably a magnum/thunder Leo).
I usually go Sniper, Mid, Brawl, Steal, at the moment - but that changes based on the map I land on, and the time of day/day of week because the players are different. Prime time East Coast USA, Gold III doesn't have enough people who know what a beacon is, and I might be the only person paying attention to them. At 1am on a Saturday morning - other parts of the world are on - and I probably can focus a bit less on that win/lose bar.
So...I like all of it, I just will put *most* of my slots to multi-role bots that would be called mid-range by most people. I think I'll end up with Snipe/Mid/Mid/Brawl/Brawl

I expect the sequel tittled “the good, the bad, and the ugly” dealing with either the trio of K-bots or the new mechanics (black market, components, and the lucky spin)

As of last night, I've decided to play the Fun, the Fun, and the Fun. I've had some of my best fights in the last couple of days, even though I've been bouncing in and out of Gold II (just can't quite seem to stay there...and without a clan, I probably won't since pick-up game players at that level seem to be beacon-blind). So, heck with it - I'm just going to have a blast with the robots I enjoy.
